I just had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled, and desperatly want some good food. I've already had enough pudding and ice cream. (Still not sick of Bomb Pops, but...)
Any of you guys have some good ideas? Oh, and while I'm a fairly acomplished cook, I'm on hydrocodeine, so not too complicated would probably be best.
No oatmeal or grits, please.
Wisdom teeth just pulled; what to eat?
Don't fret! By the 2nd or 3rd day, you should be able to sample soft food, and little by little, you can start mushing regular foods around with your front teeth.
I just had my wisdoms out last Thursday. I stocked up on the usual stuff - pudding, ice cream, jello, mashed potatoes, etc. Don't forget to DRINK plenty, and you can get lots of your nutrition that way: juice (V8 Splash is delicious and gives you a serving of fruits n veggies), nutritional drinks (I LOVE chocolate Boost), milk, etc. I was able to eat mac n cheese and soft pastas (spaghettios). Some folks like to eat yogurt. I also had tomato soup (warm, not hot!) and dipped bread in it, which made it nice and easy to eat.
You'll be eating "regular" foods before you know it :-) Just be careful for the first several days, cause any food that gets stuck up in those holes can cause infection. I know because I HAVE an infection!! Rinse very gently with warm salt water after everything you eat. Good luck!!
Reply:Well when I had mine taken out, they told me to eat soft foods.
Foods like mashed potatoes, soft scrambled eggs, or some bread.

Also Kitchri, made with rice %26amp; lentils, cooked till soft, and seasoned lightly.
U can have plain ol' cookies with tea(yeah dunk em in)
And jello!
Yoghurt is good too. I like mine with a dash of black pepper %26amp; salt.

Reply:Oh you poor dear! I truly feel for you. What kept me alive after I had all my wisdom teeth cut out was chicken and beef broth. I would soak some crackers in it or fix some noodles to put in them. Ramen noodles would offer more flavor choices, just depends if the sodium is too much for you.
You can get Egg Drop soup mix at the grocery too. Just bring the mix to a boil and add your egg. It would be in the aisle with the ethnic foods.
I also ate a lot of bananas and strawberries. They were easy enough to squash with my tongue.

Reply:just remember, don't drink soda or anything fizzy for 24-48 hrs. and nothing with a straw. feel better.
Reply:Buy desserts in the baby food isle, no jose. You can get peaches, bananas, and any other fruit and it tastes really good, just add a little sugar. As for salty foods, just puree any veggies that you like with added seasoning and meat. It'll make a great cream of veggie soup, and will keep you full for hours.
Reply:i had to have mine surgically removed and only ate jello, mashed potatoes, cream corn, yogurt and apple sauce for 3 weeks. talk about losing some weight. but i don't know how bad you are hurting, but i do know i could not chew a thing for 3 weeks. good luck and i hope you feel better soon.
Reply:I wouldn't suggest either oatmeal or grits as they can get into the socket and cause great pain (ramen noodles will do this too...experience). I would just stick with broths or maybe cheese soup with no parsley...etc. You could try creamy mashed potatoes as long as they are mashed really fine...blended smoothies with "smooth" fruit are yummy also...bananas with a splash of orange juice (no pulp) is one of my favorites!
