Wisdom Teeth getting pulled...Question????

So I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled originally I was going to get just 2 first then 2 later cause I have to get all 4 taken out. But I changed my mind and want to get all 4 at once...and because mine are weird( they're going horizontal instead of coming down)

my regular dentist cant do it himself and I have to get them surgically removed...I"m a little scared.. call me crazy but Im afraid of having to be put to sleep and not waking up...do they have to put me to sleep or is it just less painful that way...also should I get all 4 at once or do 2 at a time.

Wisdom Teeth getting pulled...Question????
The shots they normally give are pretty good. I had all four out at once and didn't feel a thing.

If they put you to sleep, you'll definately wake up again. And if they want to do this, its probably easier for them and you.

The whole thing was pretty easy for me, and I'm sure you'll get through it fine!

After the whole thing they gave me some white pills that made everything wonderful. Man, I miss those pills.
Reply:Let them put you to sleep. You'll wake up, trust me. And it will be all over. I had it done, no problems. Thank God I got it all done at once. Believe me, you'll be fine. This is what oral surgeons do.
Reply:I am pretty sure that regular dentists don't take out wisdom teeth at all. You have to go to a special doctor for it. You do not have to be put asleep. It's less painful for you and easier for the doctors. They numb you after they put you asleep, but if you aren't asleep you have to be numbed and watch what they are doing. You should get all 4 out at once so that you do not have to go through it again and pay for it again. It is a quick procedure and there probably isn't anything to be worried about.
Reply:let them put you to sleep you won't feel a thing I had five wisdom teeth surgically removed.. Even my dentist was shocked by that. But I never felt a thing and it was over in 30min... It is better to get knocked out so you don't hear the drill. I would much rather not know what the dentist is doing down there
Reply:I had 3 pulled on novocaine when I was 30

one had been pulled 1 year earlier.

but I have a high pain tolerance

it wasnt too bad but when the last one came out I said, is this the last one? and when the dentist said yes, I was relieved.

it was getting uncomfortable at that point.

I saved some money this way.

most people get put to sleep, 80-90%

they could give you novocaine and then put you to sleep if it is too much for you.

for sinus surgery, being put to sleep was great

you just wake up hours later and they are done
Reply:You will be in good hands with the oral surgeon. I suggest you do as he thinks best. He may only wish to pull two at a time.

You will know after you talk with him.. Or if it will make you feel better call the office and ask. You might also tell the nurse that you are very worried about not waking up. I am sure they deal with this all the time as most people do not do this but once or twice in oral surgery. If the surgeons office has not contacted you I think you should contact them.. As there are specific instructions before the surgery. Be sure to follow the orders before and after to make the surgery more pleasant for you.
Reply:I had the same choice to make. I had all four of them done at once. Why go through the ordeal twice. They put you out, do the job, then it's over. Sure there is soreness afterwords, but you only go through it once. It's not as bad as you might think.
Reply:I have been in dentistry for several years and know that it is better to get all four removed at the same time. It is very safe to put you to sleep as they don't put you completely under like during surgery. Both of my boys had this done while I was in the room and believe me I would have never had them put to sleep if I thought it wasn't safe. It is a more comfortable way of dealing with it and you won't remember anything. Oral surgeons are trained very well. Good luck! I am sure it will be fine.
