My poodle is 17 months old and her Vet recently told me that she has to have some baby teeth pulled out. Is that necesary?
Pull out about 7 teeth?
Better now than later. Toy breeds are notorious for bad teeth. It gets really expensive if you don't stay on top of it.
Reply:If you believe its causing the dog pain then yes. But if their is overcrowding and bleeding of the gums then yes.
Reply:if the vet sez so then yes. maybe check out another vet, BUT you have to find a vet you trust. welcome to the wonderful world of responsible dog ownership!
Reply:If your poodle is in pain, then yes. But if he/she is fine, then I think your Vet is just trying to take your money.
Reply:Yes, they could cause major problems later on. Also it's painful for your dog to have them crowding the adult teeth. Both of you will be happier for having it done. All the best;^)
Reply:I would definitely have them removed. Retaining baby teeth is bad in the long run. It causes overcrowding and will definitely lead to plaque build-up. It may cost you more money in another couple of years.
