Does getting teeth pulled hurt?

Because I have to get my teeth pulled soon and I'm really scared. For some reason, I have this fear that the dentist's hand will accidentely slip and the tooth will fall down my throat :/

Does getting teeth pulled hurt?
they dope you up big time so it doesn't hurt. if you're awake you'll obviously feel the dentist putting pressure on your mouth, but you won't actually feel the tooth coming out or anything. they may also use a dental dam, where they isolate the teeth with a bit of latex so fluids aren't going down your throat. you might feel an ache a few days afterward, but they usually send you home with a prescription for painkillers. if you have concerns, ask the dentist, and he or she will tell you exactly what will happen and put your mind at ease.
Reply:well i got 4 teeth pulled so i could get braces

i didn't even feel it

after i got my braces off i got my wisdom teeth takin out

it didn't hurt

but it might be different for everyone
Reply:sorry buddy but the truth is it will hurt like hell for about 3-5 days!!!!! but he wont mess up and let it go down your throat!!! don't worry before you know it it will all be over and done with and you'll have a pretty little smile!!!
Reply:Just relax, it's not half as bad as it sounds. I once had a tooth pulled and they put some numbing stuff on my gums, so I didn't feel a thing.

And even if you accidently swallow the tooth, I don't think anything bad can happen. After all, they're not too big. Your doctor has done this dozens of times before, so he knows how to pull a tooth. Don't worry; just relax and listen to some music while he's working, it'll help.
Reply:I've had about 5 teeth pulled out in my life, luckily all my milk teeth have gone now (thats not meant to scare you ;))

It really doesnt hurt.

It is very scary waiting to go into the dentist to have it done, most people dread the surgery.

The dentist will scratch the pallet (top) of your mouth, it feels like scratch, it might tickle even - this is the antesthetic.

Then the dentist will pop your tooth out easy.. and you'll feel relieved.

The worst thing is the build up, you may feel a bit of blood trickle down your throat, but thats telling you that your alive.

Rinse it down with water + have some soup for meal, not chips like I did... MISTAKE..
Reply:It's just uncomfortable, but not that painful while it's happening. I had a bunch pulled, wisdom teeth. The last was brutal. It was impacted and they had to slice it and take it out piece by piece. The weeks after are a bit painful. The hole in your skull is a bit unnerving as well, but it will grow over.

Bit of advice, tell them morphine makes your stomach upset, they will give you much better pain killers, grin That would be for the days to come, you usually get a crappy Tylenol 3 scrip to take home.
