I'm getting SIX teeth pulled tomorrow ( 8/29 ), and I'm nervous. Can anyone help me?

The dentist says the six teeth are jammed in, and they have little/no roots on them. I'm supposed to be numbed, but sometimes people say they can still feel it.

What will it feel like? Can you help me get over my nervousness, and, since I won't have many teeth left in back (having those six teeth pulled, when three or four are barely in), what do you recommend to eat?

My name is Joseph. I am 16 years old and about a few months ago, I had four teeth pulled. I was FREAKING out and as nervous as can be. See, I was going to get braces and had no room. These teeth were in the back and they had LONG roots. After I went to the doctor's office, I was better since I couldn't do anything about it, but still nervous. He put me in his office, talked to me for 5 minutes, then left for 20 minutes. At this time, do not think about what will happen with your teeth. Just think about the weekend or someone you have a crush on. If you can't do those, at least think about homework. Yes... homework. Just imagine everything you have to do that night. (By the way, you will get home and not want to do anything at all). The dentist then comes back in the office. He pulls his assistant into the room and tells me it will hurt a bit and will be time-consuming. After the teeth are pulled, you won't be able to eat for a few days. I stuck to smoothies and it really sucked because I was always starving. I had four teeth pulled in the back and needed EIGHT shots. They sting for a bit, but is better in the long run. Luckily, your roots are not much, unlike mine. He literally yanked so hard he had veins that I could see. When the came out one by one, they were bled on and an INCH long. So be thankful it's not that bad. Just accept that it has to be done. Just face it that you need it.

Some things to remember are:

1. Try not to think about it tonight.

2. Get a good sleep.

3. Have some good meals before you go in.

4. Get reassurrance from your parents.

5. Know that it has to be done.

I hope I helped. And don't worry, I got over it and it's not that bad. Plus, your overall appearrance will improve.
Reply:If its just front teeth it won't be as bad as molars. I had 4 molars pulled at once, it ached for a while after because the roots were so deep, but thats not what was really bugging me, it was the bleeding which went on for the whole night and some the next day. After that it's good except the gaps might feel kinda weird. I've had 9 teeth pulled in my life and a root canal on my very front top tooth. I'm okay now

edit: And as for the actual pulling, you won't feel a thing except the "pressure" as they call it, which isn't so bad. You're mouth will be frozen for a little while after but that and the pain will go away in a couple of days.
Reply:Applesauce was my best friend when I had my wisdom teeth out. It isn't bad at all really. They'll take care of you, otherwise sue their asses. That's why they get paid big bucks. The first few hours are not fun, but then it's not bad at all..
Reply:i just got all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed yesterday. i was put to sleep and right now I'm dying of pain... my mouth is swollen have of my lip is still numb and i can hardly open my mouth...i have been eating soup, jello, oatmeal and mashed potatoes. My Dr. told me not to eat anything hot because it might cause me to bleed again.... best of luck.
Reply:don't eat anything before surgery. follow doctor's orders after surgery.
Reply:Don't even worry about it, coz if they have little or no roots on 'em then that basically eliminates any pain that u might feel since its the removal of roots that cause most of the post-op pain!

It might feel odd at first coz of the new gap at the back of your mouth, but in time u'll get used to that too!

As the type of foods u should eat,it might be best if u started off with a soft-foods diet and gradually worked ur way to the foods u eat normally,i mean it wud'nt make much sense if u went to for a well done steak as soon as u were out of the dentist's office!!?!?!

Like I said earlier,don't fret...u'll b fine!
Reply:Buy a lot of bottled water and straws.

Apple sauce and tomato soup.

I had a tooth pulled on the 20th and i'm still babying that side of my mouth.
Reply:well i just got back from the denist and yeah they numb you but all you really feel is the pressure and i got 2 pulled in the back and it hurts afterwards and i mean REALLY BAD i am sorry to hear that and i was going to get 6 done today but they wouldnt cuz that would be to much pressure to handle
