Has anyone had their wisdom teeth pulled?

I just got back from my dentist, and I apparently have a few extra teeth coming in and she said something about having to get my wisdom teeth pulled in the future.

If you've had your wisdom teeth pulled, how did it feel? ive heard from some people it is the most painful thing ever, and that got me kinda scared. How long did it take you to feel normal again? any info would be appreciated

It really didn't hurt for me. Just a couple of tylenol kept any pain away after my wisdom teeth were pulled. My cheeks did swell up and I looked like a chipmunk for about 4 days, but it didn't hurt at all.
Reply:ive had all mine pulled-the needle is the worst part after that you wont feel anything--maybe some jaw soreness after its over 2 weeks be good as new
Reply:I think it depends at what stage of growth they are in actually. Mine were showing up on the xrays and I decided to get them pulled out before they actually started bothering me. Best thing I ever did. Hardly any pain at all after the procedure.
Reply:I had my bottom wisdom teeth pulled when I was 12. Since they were impacted and very deep in the bone it was rather painful and it took me about a week before I could eat normally again.

I had my top ones out earlier this year, and it was much easier since they were already poking out. I was under general anesthesia for about half an hour, which made me feel a little bit sick for the rest of the day, but I felt just fine the next day. All I needed was a couple Tylenol and I was great.

If your wisdom teeth are impacted then it will be more difficult and more painful. If they're already poking out it can be a very short procedure and you can even choose to be awake if you want. You won't feel any pain while they're pulling the teeth in any case, but you will feel some after the anesthesia wears off. They may prescribe you a painkiller if it's expected to be very painful.
Reply:i had this procedure done

i was put to sleep -- so i didnt feel anything during surgery

also i was given painkillers to help ease the pain-- which i didnt really experience any

it was more of an annoyance than a painful feeling

i was given a week off of work and school

however i felt better in about 4 days or so

INFO:

you cannot suck from a straw as that will make stitches come out

only liquid foods for at least a week: baby food, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, ice cream, yougurt, soup etc

also i had dissolving stitches that go away on their own - that you dont have to go back to have pulled-- ask for those
Reply:It hurt me when i woke up and the novicane wore off but my grandma gave me the drugs and i felt better But go to sleep you do not feel a thing
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth taken out about a month and a half ago, and it wasn't that bad at all, don't let the horror stories scare you. They put me under (about 80% of patients opt to be put under anesthesia during the procedure) and the next thing I knew, I was being walked out to the car. I was on a dose of oxycodone every six hours for the first few days, and trust me, I didn't feel a THING the whole time. The only side-effect was not remembering anything that happened the whole week.
