I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled! How much does it hurt compared to getting second premolar pulled?

I think it was the second pre-molar that was pulled when I got my braces. I had 2 pulled at a time under local anesthetics and it didn't hurt too bad. Does anyone know how this will compare to getting a wisdom teeth pulled? Should i go under local or full anesthetic??

I'm frightened. :(

I think standard procedure is to sedate you. It is pretty major, but they give you pain meds. Try having it done on a Thursday and take a 3 day weekend to recover.

Get them all done. I had mine done 2 at a time and the second go was hell.
Reply:well they can put u to sleep if ure that scared n after its gonna look like u have two meatballz in ur mouth lol
Reply:I had mine done with local. and laughing gas, and I handled it ok. but my hubby has to be fully under, it depends on the person. if you handled it before, you can handle it again.
Reply:Last wisdom tooth I had pulled I just had it numb like normal. Instead of being put to sleep....

That is up to the person and how you react to pain. It's not much different then having a molar removed. Only different is the roots are deeper and larger and they sew your gums. That was the worse part to me. They did mine....

But

Don't be scared. It doesn't take long and it's over. Just rest.

Good Luck

Reply:Well i don't know if this will help, but when my brother got his wisdom teeth pulled they numbed his mouth and after that my brother said he couldn't feel anything. Even though his mouth was bleeding a lot.
Reply:Yeah um wisdom teeth pulling hurts!!! is full anesthetic when they put you to sleep, if it is don't do it, but if it isn't do it cause they hurt I had all mine pulled out (four of them) it hurt so bad my mouth was so sore it was really difficult to talk or open my mouth, blood everywhere! but it should be okay!! lol! Wow I made it sound really good, huh! Sorry it really doesn't hurt get all the anesthetic they offer because it's painful, don't be scared just deal with it, k!
Reply:It's a major procedure. I'm pretty sure they will put you out.

Don't be scared, just make sure they give you enough pain pills for several days. Keep the gauze rolls tight to stop the bleeding. It takes a while since the holes are large and deep. When you first wake up you won't feel anything. Just keep telling yourself it has to be done. You'll be fine.
Reply:I had local for mine...it depends on ur pain tolerance, if its the top/bottom wisdoms, and if theyre impacted etc. I've heard the bottom ones are more painful becuz theyre deeper into the jawbone. But really it depends on u...some people take long periods of time off work, I went back to work the next day, some people say that root canals are the "worst" pain ever, I found it less painful than a filling. If the dentist is good, u shouldnt have any major pain, swelling or bruising afterwards.
Reply:It all depends how you have them taken out. I had my right wisdom teeth removed in full with the roots in tact and the actual procedure did not hurt at all (and i hate injections in the mouth) a day after my mouth ached and i resolved it with a hot water bottle (filled with hot tap water not boiling water) and that solved the problem. However if you have to have the tooth broken to remove it and your gum cut open it will hurt and quite a lot, usually involving stiches.

Find out what procedure you are having - full removal with root intact or where they break the tooth as i do not reccomend general anesthetic unless it is the latter that is going to happen.
