Getting 8 Teeth Pulled?

Later this year I'm going to be getting eight (yes eight) teeth pulled to make room for braces.

I'm unbelievably nervous. What should I expect? Will it hurt? I'm also afraid of being put to sleep .. is local anesthetic appropriate?

Getting 8 Teeth Pulled?
Eight teeth are alot to have extracted with a local anesthetic. If you're afraid of "being put to sleep" you can opt for a light sedation: Most patients feel so relaxed they fall asleep on their own and don't remember anything after the procedure. You're not forced into unconsciousness (that's probably the part that would scare you, right?) but you won't care about all those injections to numb up the sites for 8 extractions!
Reply:8 ...so 4 wisedom teeth and 4 bicuspids??? then it dosnt change a thing to your smile. local anesthesic is appropriate and u wont feel a thing
Reply:You will feel pressure, but no pain, or very little if at all. Just lots of pressure. Get a good painkiller for later- they can prescribe some to you.
Reply:Getting teeth pulled can be a bit scary at first. I've had nine teeth pulled (5 babies, 4 permanent). it won't hurt, they'll numb you or put you to sleep. they'll probably give you a choice on which you want, i would choose anesthesia if i were you. After you get used to all the extra room in your mouth it won't be a big deal. Good Luck!!
Reply:Well if you are like me and am terrified of the dentist you would want to be put under. If you can handle them just numbing you, then go for it.
Reply:it all depends. I have one of my tooth pulled and it was the worst pain you can imagine. I believe i had 3 or 4 shots to numb my mouth but i surely still felt the pain. Got be tearing up and all.
