Drinking after getting teeth pulled?

I just had my 2 upper wisdom teeth pulled today at the dentist office (I didnt have to have surgery or pain meds because they were not impacted - they just numbed the area %26amp; pulled them out). It's been about 6 hours and there is no pain or discomfort at all. I am going to avoid smoking %26amp; drinking through a straw %26amp;carbonated beverages to prevent dry socket, but is it ok to drink alcohol at all? It will be about 12 hours after the extraction, and I was thinking of having a couple of vodka/orange juices tonight (the dentist did suggest to drink juices).....

Not a good idea.
Reply:The alcohol will dilate the blood vessels and potentially cause the loss of the blood clot(s). You want the clots to mature at least 24 hours before challenging them. That's the risk, the choice however, is yours.
Reply:at the dentist office that i work at they suggest no alcohol for 24 hours because of the alcohol thinning your blood which could cause excess bleading... i'm sure if you stick to a couple drinks you'll be ok but dry socket hurts like a *****
