On Friday @ 1:00 he had 3 teeth pulled. It was the wisdom tooth on the top right and the next two teeth after the wisdom tooth. He had bad bleeding the same day, but it seemed to slow down a bit. Now today Sunday it is bleeding just like it was on Friday. We are changing gauze pads every 20 or so minutes due to the amount of blood. He isn't in a lot of pain, but the bleeding is worrying me. Also he has really bad breath. Is this normal?
My boyfriend had 3 teeth pulled %26amp; the area is still bleeding?
The bleeding should of stopped already. It only last for about 24 hours. I don't think it is normal, but having bad breath is normal. I think you should call his dentist
Reply:#1 Call your dentist and tell them the situation.
It is most likely a liver clot - jelly looking lump of blood. Gently remove any signs of blood that you see in the areas, take a moistended piece of gauze and hold pressure by pressing each side of the bone (cheek side and tongue side) for 5 to 10 minutes in the area of the extractions. If that doesn't stop, you can take a moistened tea bag and do the same thing. Usually, if there isn't something more serious going on, that stems the bleeding. Liver clots will continue to bleed unless all signs of them are removed and pressure placed. Good-luck and make sure you call the dentist immediately as they will be maore familar with his health history and any complicating factors.
Reply:I would call the dentists emergency number or get to a hospital emergency room. He may want to rinse with a little salt water between gauze changes. However, losing too much blood is not a good thing. Better safe than sorry.
Reply:You should get you bf to go back to the dentist .
Reply:Ok, first of all, he needs to stop changing the gauze so often. Have him bite down on the gauze for 45 minutes. After the time is up, have him take a drink of water and then take out the gauze. If the areas are still actively bleeding, meaning if you look and see that the area pools up with blood, have him bite on wet tea bags for 45 minutes. During this time, have him just lay down and relax, no moving around. If the area is still "gushing" call your dental office. There should be a number where you can contact the dentist in case of an emergency.
