Bottom front Teeth Pulled today! What Can I do?
Poor Dear! I got 2 teeth pulled 2 weeks ago and I'm still having trouble. You really shouldn't be eating any kind of food you have to chew right now. You want to eat baby foods or anything pureed(sp?) or things like jello. It's important for you to not get anything stuck in the holes because you want to develop a blood clot. As well, you can change the gauze, but you should moisten it before you put it in. This will ensure that it's not too dry and just sucking blood out of you. Keep in mind that most of what you're swallowing is blood colored saliva. My teeth (well holes) bled for over 12 hours. The next day my clots came out and I developed a dry socket when rinsing too hard. Also you should wait until the next morning to brush your teeth and should rinse ever so gently. It's important to simply leave the holes alone for 24 hours to clot and just do what you need to do to survive (aka drink broth and a mild rinse to get most germs away). When you are able to brush stay away from the hole and always rinse carefully and gently! And when in doubt, it's always a good idea to go back to the doctor. I took 6 days to go but you have to go back if you're hurting. You also should go back and get an antibiotic if you are feeling sick, this will help you get better. Good Luck!Feel free to contact me if you wind up with the dry socket and I can help you get through that!
Reply:First, stop swallowing your blood. Never swallow your blood. It's not health... it'll just give you a stomachache.

Yes, it's okay that you are still bleeding. It took me a week and a half for it to stop.

Do brush your teeth. You don't want an infection on our open wound and be ever so careful brushing. If possible, rinse with OxyFresh.

It's okay to eat. I mostly drank soup in a cup from campbells for about a week. My friend was able to eat a sirloin the next day. So, it varies on your condition. Milkshakes are also recommended. :)

I hope you feel better soon! :)
Reply:best to get back to the dentist to get rechecked if your still bleeding. you might have signs of infection
Reply:careful not to swallow and choke on the gauze...but keeping some pressure on the site should help....and blood will not digest...it's gonna come back up if you swallow much. avoid straws while you are bleeding and avoid smoking.. something cold or not warmer than room temp may help w the bleeding. if the bleeding gets profuse you can always go to the ER...but remember it always looks like it's more than it really is.....maybe call the dr office (tomorrow if closed now) and speak to someone..i would keep a record of any elevated temps and relay it to the dr. office.. do not take motrin or advil or asprin, it may cause more bleeding.. instead take tylenol for pain or fever....try sleeping w your head elevated to help w the bleeding and to keep from swallowing the blood.....i would think you were told not to spit in order to allow the bleeding to clot off and not dislodge it while they are forming..........but you should be able to expel the blood from your mouth without disturbing any forming blood clots, esp if you still have gauze in place. g"luck!!
Reply:You may want to consult another dentist even if just calling another office on the phone most are willing to help explain things like this to worried people especially if it means that you may soon become THEIR patient.

Don't keep swallowing your blood, you could turn into a vampire and then you would have even BIGGER problems than the disturbing problems that the wacko dentist has left you to deal with on your own.
Reply:Answers to you questions:

1.) No it is not bad to fall asleep with gauze in your mouth.

2.) Yes it is okay to eat stew... it will be fine for you to eat anything that is not too tough to chew.

3.) You should not be bleeding much at this point. (pinkish tint to the saliva is normal) If you are bleeding more than that, call the doctor. You should have formed a stable clot after 1 or 2 hours.

4.) Yes you can brush your teeth and tongue. Just do not rinse your mouth vigorously.

Again, if you are still bleeding a lot and if you have a fever, you should call the doctor ASAP. It may feel awkward to eat since you aren't used to having the two teeth missing, but the other symptoms you describe sound like they need further treatment. Call you doctor and they should have an emergency contact number. Good luck.
Reply:If you're still bleeding it isn't that unusual, especially if you didn't have the gauze properly placed while you slept for 7 hours. At this point I would suggest biting on a moistened tea bag (Lipton, Earl Grey...black tea) to help constrict the blood vessels. Don't eat anything that requires chewing (save the stew for tomorrow), don't smoke or use a straw, and keep your diet on the cold side. Don't brush or rinse for the 1st 24 hours or so, and then make sure you don't jam the brush into the extraction sites.
