my pup is 4 months old and it looks like the top back teeth are crowded with new teeth growig along side baby teeth. Will he need the baby teeth pulled out to give room for new ones?
Is it needed to have teeth pulled out of pups to give room for new ones if they are crowded?
take him to the vet... if the puppy teeth aren't being pushed out on their own, they need help getting them out (do NOT do this yourself... you could injure the dog if you aren't careful!) at my vet, it is only $2 per tooth that needs to be pulled... so not a bad price... but in order for the teeth to grow in nicely and him/her have a good looking mouth, you will probably need to have them pulled... take him/her to the vet and have him/her checked out to make sure that he/she absolutely needs it...
hope all goes well and good luck...
Reply:it kind of wooks its self out nautrally you just need to leave it alone. It would help if you gave him ice and chew toys or a dog bone.
Reply:Noooooooo.... Do wolves need their teeth pulled as pups?? It should be just fine; let nature take it's course.
Reply:two questions-- is it a pit bull? pit bulls have two rows of teeth. second-- are the new teeth small like baby teeth? and yes, some pups do need to have the baby teeth pulled if they are not loosened by the adult teeth coming in. 4 months old is when these things start happening. but a good thing you can do is give him toys that will help loosen the baby teeth. rubber chew toys, with treats hidden inside, help alot. and playing tug with him (although is sounds barbaric) will also help to remove the teeth.
Reply:Not usually but it does happen. If you think the baby teeth aren't falling out and it's been a reasonable amount of time take him to a vet. Crowded teeth lead to bad tooth decay. Better to pull a few now than ALL of them later, which also happens. Good luck
Reply:Don't worry about the baby teeth...they should eventually fall out...if they are not gone by the time the dog is a yr old, then take him/her to the vet to have them removed...My mother-in-laws mini schn had her baby teeth until she was around a yr.
Reply:Wow you got fools to answer you. First pits do not have two rows of teeth. Second in order for a vet to pull teeth they have to sedate the pet. So its gonna cost a lot more than $2 per tooth.
You pet will be fine. Nature will take its course. Sometimes it takes longer for them to loosen or the adult teeth aren't ready to take on a full role. I have found the pups like the robes with knots to chew on this helps them loosen the baby teeth and strengthen the new teeth.
Reply:Yes - those baby teeth need to be pulled immediately if the adult teeth are already growing in!!!
Reply:I feel bad for you in deciding the right course of action for your puppy. Especially since all kinds of people are answering your question and giving you very mixed messages. I have a maltese puppy and he needed his puppy teeth pulled. It depends on the dog if they need their baby teeth pulled or not. It is more common in small breeds, but can happen to any dog. It is totally possible for nature not to take a proper course of action and for the baby teeth to stay in the way while the adult teeth are trying to grow in. When this happens, you will need to have your puppy go to the vet. They will put him under anesthesia (sp?) and then pull the baby teeth. Simply take your puppy to his vet and ask them what their opinion is.
