My boyfriend had 3 teeth pulled & went back to dentist?

This is a 2nd post. *Original post was that on Friday he had 3 teeth pulled and still was bleeding pretty bad as of today SUnday* So we called his dentist who was on call. He told us to return to his office since the bleeding was still pretty bad so he could see what was going on. Well the dentist had to put alot more stiches in and told him to keep another piece of gauze in for 45 minutes, if it continues to bleed he gave us more gauze to use %26amp; if we use all of it we need to see him again. Well bleeding is still bad, we have gone through almost 1/2 of the pile of gauze he had given us and my boyfriend is in more pain due to more stiches %26amp; is giving up hope that he will heal. This is his first tooth removal %26amp; it was several teeth %26amp; also has very bad gums. I'm thinking his bad gums are making this the big problem and causing the bleeding. I am making him rinse with warm salt water and giving him ice packs for the swelling but wondering if I can do anything else to make him feel better.

Stop rinsing!


Do not rinse untill the bleeding stops. (for the most part anyways.)


That washes out the blood clot, making it bleed more.


Have him bite down pretty hard for 45 minutes, no drinking, no eating.





Also, make sure any pain meds he's on arent blood thinners. Don't give any asprin AT ALL. Take Ibuprofin if it's ok with the dentist.





Here's what the dentist told mme when he took out my wisdom teeth:


Don't rinse out your mouth for 24 hours.


Don't rinse out if it's still bleeding.


Don' take out the gauze untill it's soaked.


BITE DOWN on the gauze to apply pressure to the extraction site.





Give him lots of water, and don't let him use a straw. The suction will pull out the blood clot.

Reply:The rinsing with salt water is a good thing but you need to make sure it's not very vigirous. Just have him put the water in his mouth and move is head back and forth a little... To stop the bleeding wet a tea bag and have him bite on it for 30-45mins the tanins in the tea work as a cloting agent...Good Luck...If that doesn't work call the dr. again
