Need wisdom teeth pulled. How to save money?
Before I got insurance, I signed up with Ameriplan. It's a discount dental plan. They'll pay a percentage of it, I think it is about $75 a tooth. You'll have to pay $15 dollars a month for a year to take part.
Reply:Good luck trying to save money there, im in the same boat, need to get mine pulled with no insurance.
Reply:usually it will be cheaper if you have all of them done at the same time (top and bottom). Also, IV sedation costs more than the other anesthetic options. Most insurance companies that I know of will cover wisdom teeth if you have a comprehensive dental plan, but if you have already seen a doctor about your wisdom teeth they may not cover it. Just make sure you ask before you buy the insurance. good luck
Reply:Have you tried a dental school in your area? They are sometimes cheaper, also I don't know your financial situation but some community health centers have sliding scale fees so you pay what you can afford. Your state may also have an insurance plan that you pay little or nothing for your visits. Shop around and call the United Way @ 211 they have lots of info.
Reply:Depends completely on your insurance and the orthodonist, as every doctor is different on prices and policy and each insurance plan is completely different on what type of dental work you are allowed. When I had my 3 wisdom teeth pulled, I had to pay for the entire visit because my insurance only covered cleaning and cavities. Call your insurance first to verify what they will cover, then have them refer a dentist who is in your plan.
Reply:If you live within 3-4 hrs of a dental school, contact them. They charge a nominal fee. Take a friend with you; they usually put people out for this %26amp; you'll need a driver. I dreaded having mine pulled but to tell you the truth, once I came out of the antiseptic I was a pretty happy camper. Good luck. And a Merry Christmas.
Reply:Here is a simple effective way to save money on your dental visits especially if you don't have insurance.

Go to this site www.sterlingdentalplan.com, they have almost 70,000 dentists. If you use the plan, which is pretty cheap, you'll save close to 50% on the whole procedure.

On top of that the dentist might offer a financing option which will allow you to pay for the procedure over time.
