8 Teeth Pulled Out!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!?

So, I'm getting my bicuspids and my wisdom teeth pulled out at the same time, so it would be eight in one sitting. I am really, really scared that something bad will happen. Like, my dentist said that I might lose feeling in half of my face if a certain nerve is touched/ruined. I am freaking out. Has anybody else got this done and did it turn out okay? Do you feel it when they do it? Please say something that will calm me down. I'm scared!

8 Teeth Pulled Out!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!?
I've been through this same thing.

I wore braces for two years, and I also had to get 8 teeth pulled (4 pre-molars and 4 wisdom teeth). TELL your dentist you want a referral to an ORAL SURGEON. I wouldn't trust a regular dentist to pull 8 teeth in one sitting, especially when he's afraid of hitting nerves. I'm also guessing your wisdom teeth haven't even come in yet.

I had an oral surgeon take out my wisdom teeth and he had to saw into the gums from the side, it required stitches, i was put out, etc.

Tell your parents to talk to him for you. Don't let him talk you into letting him do this; don't worry about hurting his ego or his feelings. You need an expert to do this procedure, and he's not it. Demand a referral.
Reply:i had it done its ok dont worry about nothing it will turn out fine..
Reply:Why ever are you having so many teeth removed? I can understand the wisdom teeth...but why the others? Are they so decayed? Make sure that the dentist knows what he is doing so you do have less chance of the bad side effects...it is so very important to keep your original teeth...
Reply:Gosh, he shouldn't have told you that. Don't worry about it. They dope you up, so you don't feel anything. Plan on staying at the house for atleast 2-3 days. Take it easy.
Reply:ice had 4 teeth pulled out welll...3 cuz 1 fell out but anyway i had them pulled out and they wouldnt st op bleeding and ur mouth feels sore afterward and dont jump or anything that moves ur head 2much bcuz it will bleed a lot just stay still and ya then it will all be good......
Reply:ok, i haven't had 8 teeth out, but iv had 4 in one sitting. don't worry about it, it rele is nothing. u can't feel a thing. my parents kept it from me bcoz i was so scared and didnt tell me til the morning i got it dun. it reledoesn't hurt and i have luvly teeth now! keep cool and don't panic it will b fine :)
Reply:its easy to say don't worry. i too have had to have a lot removed due to low immune system, so i can understand your fears. its easier actually to have removed all at same time, less traumatic in long run, you will think nothing of it in a few months time and you too can then advise someone else. just make sure you keep mouth clean after, prevent infection after. good luck.
Reply:Ok little lady "calm" down...the procedure your going to have is not as risky as you seem to feel it is. Yes, there is a risk regarding numbness due to a severed or damaged nerve but that risk is no more than the usual risk that every injection of an anesthetic poses. The Dentist is required to tell you when even the slightest risk is possible. You will do just fine...NOW, after the extractions, do not smoke for three days, do not suck on a straw or drink from a pop bottle for a week, do not eat or drink "hot" foods or liquids for three day's minimum, do not attempt to rinse your mouth with anything for 24 hours and then very gently for another two day's....The reason for these cautions is that you do not want to dislodge any of the blood clots that form in the empty tooth sockets following the extractions. If one comes out you most likely will end up with a very painful "Dry Socket"...and you don't want to deal with that. As for food, there are jellos for example and of course the drug store has a variety of liquid meals you can drink...not from a straw though, pour it in a glass. Do this for two to three day's...NOW, one tooth or all of them, the total healing time will take five to six months. You should not feel any pain or discomfort around the extraction sites after about two weeks. From that point on the sockets continue to heal and the gum bone changes shape and size...but you won't feel that happening. It just simply takes five to six months for it to reach completion.....Remember, your going to do great and the procedure will be painless. if you follow instructions.
Reply:I have had 6 out and you'll be fine. you will be in a lot of pain though.
