Teeth pulled?

I'm getting braces in a few days and i need to know how it fells to get your teeth pulled along with braces 4 teeth do they make it all in one oppointment or in different ones would it hurt for a pre teen.

please answer

Teeth pulled?
I'm 14, and i just got teeth pulled and my braces on.

Most people get these blue rubber bands the first visit, called spacers. They hurt for about 3-4 days. It's a bad throbbing pain and very sharp when you try to eat. But, they come out in about a week, and it's only to space out your teeth.

Some people get an expander. I got a mini one on with my braces. It's a metal piece with springs that pushes your teeth out some- i guess why they call it an expander haha. It does make you a little sore for a day or 2 but it's not that bad. And for a certain amount of time your parents tighten them everyday. Since it's lose when you get it out, food usually gets stuck in it. It's a MAJOR pain in the behind. But when you get it tightened, not as much gets stuck. Not everyone gets one of these though.

When you get your brackets put on, it doesn't hurt at all. Until the next day, but the soreness goes away. And usually you get the wire that connects the brackets the same day, but in my case i had to get teeth pulled first.

I have to say, getting teeth pulled wasn't that bad at all. I got 4 taken out 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. The dentist dumbs up your mouth real good. It hurts a little when they numb up your mouth with the needle. But, they are really quick and try to get it over with fast. When they start to pull out the teeth, you can't feel it...you might hear it popping out. Or just feel it move a little, but it shouldn't bug you much. When it's done, there is a lot of bleeding. Mine kept on bleeding for about 4 hours? but it can last 24-36 hours at the most. They also gave me a prescription for some extra strength pain killers that really help.

As for the amount of appointments, some are different.

But it usually starts with:

-x-rays and finding out what you need done

-start putting in spacers and do molds of your teeth

-come back in a week, get spacers out and if you don't need an expander they start putting on your braces but if you do need an expander they do another mold for that and come back in a week for your expander and braces.

usually at the first appointment they'll talk about getting teeth pulled or if they wait and see if they can make room, you get them pulled by a regular dentist and have to wait about 3 weeks until they heal to get anything else done.

getting braces does have it's pains, but they actually aren't that bad. and if you think about it. many kids get braces too and they don't complain that much.

well, i just think about it this way.

in two years, i'll have a beautiful smile. :D

Reply:really bad

i had my teeth pulled

and even when they had pain killers

i could feel it

i was crying and screaming so loud

the people in the other rooms could hear me

sorry for telling you that it hurts so bad

but its true
Reply:Usually consult appointment, ortho study appointment, and then usually get braces. No they do not hurt. The most pain I had the whole time I wore them was just like muscle soreness type pain from a hard workout type feel when they tighten them which occurs later.
