I haven't been to the dentist for a long time because I'm really scared of them but I will need to go soon because my teeth are really bad now. I know I've got a lot of cavities that need fixed and I have quite big cavities in my wisdom teeth. I was talking to my friend about it and she said I'd have to get my wisdom teeth pulled out because they don't do fillings in them.......is that true????
I'm really scared of getting fillings because when I was 15 I had to get two filiings and the dentist thought they were small cavities and did them without anaesthetic but one was actually a lot bigger than he thought and I was in a LOT of pain. But I'm even MORE scared about the thought of getting teeth pulled out, so I need to know is what my friend said is true or not.
Do I need my wisdom teeth pulled out?
You're the person who said 6 days ago that you had taken an overdose aren't you????
Lady, you NEED your wisdom teeth......... you are one depraved individual.
If you were serious about the OD, you need to tell your dentist, as he may give you drugs that actually may end up killing you.
Hmmmmm, there's a thought for you.
Get help either way.
Reply:Yes, get them pulled
Reply:well I'm paranoid of needles and i had one out at dentist wasn't that bad
Reply:Ask for general anasthesia when they pull them out--you'll be totally asleep the whole time. If they have cavities, I feel it will be easier to just have them pulled out rather than have them filled.
Reply:The dentist will recommend if they should be out. I'm so glad that mine are out. Who needs them - I say get 'em out.
My brothers' mouths were big enough that they didn't have to have theirs removed. They could have just asked me - I knew their mouths were big enough.
Me - the litttle mouth in the family - they were out at 18, I'm glad. I'm better off without 'em.
Reply:I've had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out because they were hurtin like a son on a *****. They serve no purpose and if they start hurtin you, get them out. The pain will only get worse till you do.
Hey chrissie. how the hell did you not get your swear word asterisked? And they * my swear. Son of a ***** ***** *****.
Reply:Depends how bad they are... God I love going to the dentist... even though one of them ****** up 2 of my teeth and I had to get a root canal done... but your mouth feels so refreshed and clean afterwards... You can get fillings in your wisdom teeth, it just depends how bad they are... you wont know for sure until you actually go and see the dentist and see what s/he suggests
Reply:just go to your dents don't be scared and they will check your teeth and if your wisdom teeth need to be out they will let you know
Reply:well i will give you some advice because my mum is a dentist she said that if they are hurting you they will need to get check by someone but if you have big cavities in your wisdom teeth you will need them out.
Reply:Looks like you have had bad experience with your dentist. Get another dentist to check your teeth and get his opinion. Pulling out a wisdom tooth is not as painful as you think providing that they inject pain killers into your gum. Your gum will feel very cold and numb and that will be the good time your dentist will pull them out. The pain will only wear off after 20 mins or so. To relieve the pain, try using ice pack and wrap them with a cloth and place on your cheeks. The pain will be totally gone by next day. Meanwhile have only porridge so that your mouth will not hurt so badly after that.
Reply:Darn! I got my answer all written up and my wireless went out! I will try again:
You will probably need to have those wisdom teeth pulled, especially if they have cavities. My dentist told me that insurance usually won't pay for fillings in wisdom teeth, as they think they should just be pulled. I still have all my wisdom teeth (and I'm old!) so not everyone has to have them removed, only if they don't come in right. My daughter had all of hers removed, with absolutely no problems at all. But I have heard of others who have alot of swelling afterwards.
Your dentist will help to make you confortable for any work he/she does. Ask your friends who they go to for dental work, and if they would recommend them. Look in the yellow pages under dentists, and you might find one that specializes in no pain, no shots, things like that.
Reply:All right princess, suck it up and get your butt to the dentist. Would you rather have a mouthful of disgusting rotten teeth? And guess what - tooth and gum disease have now been linked to more serious things like heart disease and strokes.
I had my wisdome teeth pulled with no freezing or anesthetic (long story) and I lived.
Reply:Yes, please get your wisdom teeth out now, you will feel better %26amp; really dude, it is not that bad. I had mine out not too long ago %26amp; it went so smooth, not bad at all. Get it taken care of now %26amp; you won't have to worry about it later! Trust me, I was scared too but once its done you'll be glad you went ahead %26amp; just did it.
Reply:most of the time the mouth does not have room for wisdom teeth and they need to be extracted. if theres plenty of room, yes, they will fill them,, if they are badly decayed, no,, theres no point, go to a good dentist where u live, call 1800 dentist. they recommend dentists for cowards.. seriouisly, im the biggest dental coward there is, and my dentist does not hurt me one bit. root canals , fillings , shots,, all is good!! :)
Reply:have to pull em out or else the whole arrangement of the teeth will be disrupted and you'll have to wear braces then
Reply:They will probally pull them, they say your back teeth are not very strong now that we don't use them for grinding bamboo shoots and stuff. I personally find getting a tooth pulled to be easier than getting a filling. And by all means you have the right to stop the freaking doctor and say look you moron that freaking hurts give me something now. You are paying them to do a service for you.
Reply:luckily your friend is not the one who would make that decision, but seriously you need to see a dentist who would make an objective assessment as to whether you would need your teeth out or not.
if you are nervous there are several ways to help you including intravenous and inhalation sedation, general anaethetic, premedications etc your dentist will discuss all these options with you
Reply:Hi there,
This is just of my own experience. I had the same problem as yours.
When I was at the age of 16, I was told by a dentist who done checking in my school that I had a wisdom tooth that needs filling or otherwise it will get worst. I had the same feeling as yours against visiting dentist and so I just ignore the advice.
Now, after 10 years, my wisdom tooth has gone really really bad that I couldnt do any filling but to pull it out. The cavity was so large that my tooth was broken apart while the dentist was attempting to pull it off. End up that I had to undergo minor surgery. The process, however, had taught me one thing. That you should not wait any longer if you know that your teeth need filling(especially wisdom teeth) or else you will end up like me, I did learn my lesson though. Also you should consult a dentist that you really trusted and feel comfortable with. The dentist that tried to pull out my wisdom tooth was so rude and so rough that it really hurt a lot during the process. I do have friends that told me that it didnt hurt a bit. So this should means that it should depends on the dentist that you have chosen. So do not visit your last dentist who gave you so much pain even when you were only getting fillings.
Hope this helps, do not wait any longer.
