Getting puppy teeth pulled?

I have a 6 month old Maltese and its time for him to lose teeth! He's lost quite a few allready but there are 3 that have teeth grown in behind them. I'm wondering if when I take him in to get them pulled I should go ahead and get the canines pulled aswell so I don't have to pay another anesthesia fee? Also, he's hypoglycemic, so would the anesthesia hurt him?

Getting puppy teeth pulled?
Talk to your vet about getting it all done when you get him neutered.
Reply:Your dog will need its permanent canine teeth ! No point in extracting teeth unless there is an issue or vet recommended. As long as the vet monitors your dog , then it will be fine. There is always a risk with anesthesia especially smaller dogs.
Reply:It shouldn't be necessary to have puppy teeth pulled. They will fall out by themselves. Unless there is a problem like a broken tooth or an infection let nature take its course.
Reply:6 months is still early. He should be dropping his teeth for another couple of months at least. Give him chew toys which will encourage those baby teeth to fall out.

After 1 year, you may consider inserting a chip under your dogs skin (incase he ever gets lost). The extra teeth could be pulled out then.
Reply:"He's a purebred maltese, and no he won't be mating with just any dog."

Just because you have a purebred doesn't mean you should breed. There are millions of purebred dogs in shelters who came from Backyard Breeders who thought they should breed their dogs just because they were purebred. And just because you won't let her breed with any typical dog, doesn't mean it won't result in a typical litter which adds to the overpopulation insanity.

My female puppy also had some teeth pulled while she was under anesthesia for being spayed. If you don't want to pay multiple anesthesia fees, have the 3 teeth (and the canines, if your VET advises) pulled while he is under the anesthesia for being neutered! Do the dog world a favor!

EDIT: I won't calm down until every dog on death row in a shelter is sleeping at a good owners' feet. The option should NOT remain open to you. And accidents do happen. It doesn't matter if he is an inside dog. If there's another irresponsible dog owner within a mile who didn't spay their female, and she goes into heat, he's going to do everything in his power to get to her; then, you're going to have a furious neighbor whose dog got impregnated by your dog! Good luck! If your family members want a dog, they can get one from a reputable breeder or shelter, not from your dog.

EDIT 2: You're just aching to turn this into a petty battle. I wasn't aware of where you lived; my apologies; however, do your research (as you would anyway if you were going to breed him) and you'll see all the positive effects of having a dog neutered, rather than leaving him intact. Not just his inability to impregnate a dog, but a better temperament and a reduction in territorial instincts comes out of a neutering. And I'll wait with bated breath for you to tell me that your dog is completely perfect with absolutely no aggressive or territorial behaviors whatsoever, EVER.
Reply:talk about it with your vet
Reply:Buy him some good chew toys of different textures, encourage him to play with them. He still has a chance to work those teeth loose. It's alot cheaper and less traumatic than surgery.
Reply:He still has time to loose those puppy teeth that are in front of adult teeth. Our Shiba had some adult teeth come in before the puppy teeth fell out and the vet wanted us to have them pulled (and charge us upwards of $500 to do it) but they had fallen out by the next appoinment. Unless there is a major problem preventing them from coming out on their own, there is no reason to pay to have them pulled.
Reply:they will come out when they get ready to. I had a jack russell, and I have a jack russell and both their adult canine teeth had came in behind or beside the baby ones. they will eventually fall out and if not, I guess there will more to bite the neighbors with. just kidding.
