I think I only have one wisdom tooth...Because its growing under skin.....hard to explain....like behind the last tooth in your mouth...ther is like a lump...its like a jaw bone or something...well on my right its growing under this lump..its partiallially exposed on the side. its tottaly not like this on the left....
anyways why do i need to have it pulled?
Why do wisdom teeth need pulling?
They dont ALWAYS need pulling. It depends on your other teeth. If you have room in your mouth to where it is not going to push your other teeth then, you dont need it pulled. BUT if it is going to push your other teeth out of line, you will have problems down the line with your other teeth.
Reply:You probably dont! It only needs extracting if it causes you any trouble.
Reply:You just answered your own question. When the tooth is covered by gums you can get an infection and it can push the others side ways.
Reply:mine was like that when i was younger. Dentist said let it grow in more, then if needed pulling it would be easier. They grew in %26amp; i still have them.
Reply:Only if you already have too many teeth for your mouth, or your wisdom tooth is coming in next to some alreayd set teeth, you need it removed.
If you have a lot of teeth, then there won%26#039;t be enough room for them, and what can happen is your teeth will get very crooked and ugly.If you just have a tooth right by where it is coming in , then it can actually grow sideways and destroy your already-there molar (happened to my hubby)
Reply:this could become impacted - and sounds like it is. this impaction can become an infection in the bone. when this happens, you need to take antibiotics before they can remove it - the open area the tooth is protruding from will become a haven for bacterial growth and constant infection. if not treated once it is an infection, you could die. bacteria will either enter the blood stream or go straight to the heart and cause death.
Reply:Because your dentist has a mortgage, a country club membership, and a kid in private school.
Seriously....listen to the dentist. If you don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s necessary, you need to find a new dentist you can trust. Sounds like you really do need to have it pulled.
Reply:Our skull reorganized and jaw got smaller as evolution progressed. We no longer have room for all our teeth, which is why so many people have to have their wisdom teeth pulled. All my wisdom teeth stayed as a lump behind my molars for many years, then suddenly they began to grow again (I was 25 which is considered pretty late for them to grow in). They suddenly caused a lot of pain, and I had to get all of them removed.
Wait and see how it goes. You don%26#039;t want to do through the entire procedure if you don%26#039;t have to. They may grow in just fine (you may have plenty of room). If they start causing pain, or if you notice your other teeth moving / getting crooked, then it%26#039;s time to go to the dentist.
Reply:All doctors will tell you that every ones wisdom teeth need to be removed. The reason for this is because they are obsolete. Wisdom teeth are so far back in the mouth, that normal brushing cannot reach them. And if you cant reach them to brush, they start to rot, pretty much. Then they will start causing pain but again, the teeth are so far back, doctors can%26#039;t work on them. So they just pull them. Another reason for this is if they are causing you pain, either by pushing their way through the gums or coming in sideways (impacted). Hope this helped!
p.s. - that flap of gum tissue covering the wisdom teeth is called an opurculum. :) and your wisdom teeth grow at different rates. It totally normal but they should be taken out.
Reply:Your wisdom teeth were needed back in the days when we ate meat and bones. Ha Ha buts it%26#039;s kinda true.
The reason we have them taken out now is because it takes like 100 years for them to come out and when they do they are rotten or come in sideways. It%26#039;s best to remove them and avoid the infections and trouble they cause. The one that is giving you trouble sounds like it might be coming in sideways, they will come up to the surface and then go down for years that%26#039;s the problem. Just have it taken out you will be allot happier.
Reply:they r mostly located in the joint between the two jaws with not enough space...as they grow after puberty age..so they can push the joints %26amp; cause pains as well as trouble in chewing...
Reply:Hi, not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed. The problems that wisdom teeth CAN cause is alot of pain and discomfort and this is because sometimes there isnt enough room in the back of your mouth for them to grow through properly. Also, Insufficient space in the arch causes the wisdom tooth to be angulated, with no possibility of erupting fully. The impaction causes food debris to accumulate behind the anterior second molar tooth. Also the cheek tissue may extend to “cover” the wisdom teeth. Persistent gum infection may flare up and extend to the face and neck. Wisdom teeth that are difficult to maintain may decay. Additionally, the anterior second molar may decay at the point of contact of the impacted wisdom teeth. This can be very difficult to restore with a filling as it may extend below the gums.
There is no necessity to remove the wisdom teeth if they have erupted into the mouth and not giving any problems. However, if you have any of the problems listed above, then it is advisable to have them removed. There is a school of thought that recommends that wisdom teeth that are completely buried in the jaw bone need not be removed. Everyone is different, i had to have all four of mine removed.
Hope this helps
