1. for 17 teeth pulled out an oral surgeon is usually required not just a dentist. 2. hopefully you have dental insurance and they wont %26#039;extort%26#039; 200 BUCKS out of you to stop the pain. I had 12 teeth pulled out at once by an oral surgeon and didnt feel a thing (strong drugs) ask about getting bridges or implants, you really cant chew or talk with no back teeth. i know what its like to have bad teeth, i avoided the dentist for ten yrs and obviously paid the price.
Reply:ok I just had 8 teeth removed including wisdom. it is not bad. I was on gas and they numbed my mouth too. it doesnt really hurt at all. it will be fine dont worry.
Reply:Who cares if you%26#039;ll be able to walk or not, spring for the pills!!! 17 teeth is a LOT! But seriously, you%26#039;re going to need someone to help watch your kids regardless so you might as well take the pills.

I always opt for the pills and my dentist always gives me more than 2 and I%26#039;ve always been able to walk but you definitely need to have someone drive you to and from. My last dental experience was having my wisdom teeth pulled and all I can say is THANK GOD for those pills! You%26#039;ll be relaxed, you might even nap thru the whole procedure. Then you%26#039;ll go home and nap some more. It shouldn%26#039;t even be an unpleasant experience.
Reply:i only had two pulled at once.....you should ask him to prescribe something for the pain because you think pain relievers you get in the store will not work...

if he doesnt just get sleeping pills like unisom and sleep though the pain.... idk mine hurt like hell though

Reply:Having 17 teeth pulled at once can seem very overwhelming, but trust me, the dentist will do everything he/she can to make sure you are very comfortable and the process goes as smoothly as possible. %26quot;Laughing gas%26quot; is not used as a pain killer in any way, but as an anti-anxiety treatment for patients. It will make you feel like you have had a drink or two and don%26#039;t feel the nervous worried feeling. It really helps patients to relax, and when the patient is relaxed, the dentist can do his job a lot easier. Please don%26#039;t feel like you have to take the pills. You probably don%26#039;t want to be too out of it for the partial fitting and post operative instructions. Lots of patients who have come through our office have had many teeth pulled at once, just under the gas and being numb from the anesthetic injections and they do just fine. I know this is very overwhelming for you, but trust that everything will be ok, and you will do great!! Hope this helps and good luck on the 24th! =)

P.S.- yes, teeth that are severely decayed can make you feel %26quot;blah%26quot; all over. In fact once you get rid of those teeth, you should feel a lot better once you recover from the surgery. =)
Reply:You could always pay the extra money for an Oral surgeon to do it and put you to sleep. I will soon be having 5 upper teeth removed for a partial and I am chicken. So I will fork out the extra cash to be put to sleep. Ask about other options.
