7 teeth pulled before braces?
The only thing no one has mentioned is why your dentist wants to pull your teeth if the first place. I am a dentist and would get a second opinion from an orthodontist. Assuming you are young, pulling your 4 premolars to make room is a bad idea and will most likely flatten your profile. Your wisdom teeth can go...makes movement easier for ortho but I would not reccomend the extractions of your premolars...Please go get a second opinion from a young orthodontist. The technique you are having done is old and used only in adults and very extreme cases these days

Good Luck
Reply:You can move the 2nd and third molars back to gain space and widen the arch. to remove the premolars they will make your arch even narrower and flatten your profile. Orthodontists were trained this way in the past but there are always newer techniques Report It

Reply:Its no big deal I had 6 teeth pulled right before braces. they numb you its not bad at all. The braces on the other hand hurt but they will be worth it when you get your pretty smile ;)
Reply:All in one go, much better than 2 separate procedures.
Reply:They will probably put you under. I had 10 teeth done at once before braces. It was not too bad after the novacaine wore off, I was drooling a lot.
Reply:Hell ya thats gonna kill you!!! why need braces when there pulling all your teeth out?? jk :) goodluck and take meds before you go..
Reply:First off, I can%26#039;t imagine a dentist pulling 7 teeth in one day. Don%26#039;t let them do it even if they want to. You can ask at your dentist to see if they will put you out for your wisdom teeth. I got 5 teeth pulled right before I got my braces on and they were all on the top. It didn%26#039;t hurt at all. Your wisdom teeth might be the only sore ones. Don%26#039;t be scared, you will do just fine. Just make sure and ice your mouth to help with the swelling and any bruising you may get from your wisdom teeth. Good luck and hang in there!! Be strong!!
Reply:I had six pulled before I had braces put on and my four wisdom teeth several years later. They want to pull all of them in one day? That seems odd. I had the three on the right pulled and then the three on the left pulled a couple weeks later so I had a side of my mouth that I could chew with while I healed.

They may or may not put you all the way under. With my wisdom teeth I was because they were impacted (not out at all), but not with my other teeth. However, you%26#039;ll get Novocaine and you can also ask about nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Some dentists do it and some don%26#039;t.

Getting teeth pulled isn%26#039;t the worst thing in the world, although there is pain afterwards. It%26#039;s worth it, though, when you get the braces off and your teeth are straight and beautiful.

Good luck!
Reply:I would see if they could do one SIDE at a time. They would have to numb your entire mouth to do them all at once, and there could be problems with that (ie - biting your tongue or mouth, etc). This would also allow you to be able to eat on one side while the other is healing.

The pulling of the teeth themselves isn%26#039;t painful at all if they numb it up pretty well - in my opinion, it%26#039;s the shots that hurt, but that doesn%26#039;t last long. Once it%26#039;s numbed you won%26#039;t feel anything. They will probably tell you that you%26#039;ll only feel a little pressure when they pull it (I didn%26#039;t feel anything).

Try your best to follow their aftercare instructions very carefully, otherwise you may develop dry socket, which I have heard is very painful.

Again, I would see if they can just do one side at a time. Don%26#039;t worry, it won%26#039;t be as bad as you think. Best of luck to you!

Edit: Oh, I understand hun believe me. I%26#039;m 20 and just had a wisdom tooth out for the same reason. My teeth are very crowded and there%26#039;s just no room for the wisdom teeth. I had 2 coming in that were impacted, and right now the others are showing no signs of cutting through right now. I%26#039;ll eventually wind up with braces as well, but I am going to try and hold onto as many of my teeth as possible. Again - good luck!
Reply:dont be scared all they gonna do is pull it out.

i had that time but its all worth it.

u can do it!!

Reply:You can be knocked out if that%26#039;s what you want to have done, but it%26#039;s better for you if you aren%26#039;t put under. Being put under always carries some risk and the recovery time is longer.

I would say it would be easier on you to have them all done at once. Just make sure your dentist knows you fear the pain so that he can give you a prescription for it.

Make sure you understand what you need to do to take care of your mouth after the extractions. Having a dry socket, where the blood clot comes out of the hole left by the missing tooth, can be very painful so you want to make sure you know how to prevent that from happening. Infections are bad in your mouth as well, so you also want to prevent them.

Listen to your dentist and all should be well. Any questions, ask. That%26#039;s what they are there for...

Good luck.
Reply:I was told i am getting all my baby teeth pulled out (which i still have) and i am almost 16......but my dentist says this every year and doesnt do it....he also says i should get braces....and again doesnt do anything...........dead annoying? has anyone here still got baby teeth? dont no y ur dentist is pulling ur wisdom teeth out...ive got mines
Reply:I had 4 out, 2 of them had just started to come through! =/

They won%26#039;t pull out all 7 teeth in one day, they will do one side of your mouth the first time and then the other side the next.

They don%26#039;t put you out, they will just give you a needle to numb your gum which is probably the worst part for me. Then they take the teeth out which doesn%26#039;t actually hurt, it%26#039;s just not nice. Don%26#039;t be scared though, it%26#039;s over really soon and will all be worth it.

Good luck x
