Braces and four teeth pulled!!? PLEASE READ!?

Hi, i am getting braces in a couple of weeks and four teeth pulled. my ortho said get braces first then teeth pulled (2 on top and 2 on bottom) 1. has this happened to anyone? 2. does the braces hurt? 3. do getting teeth pulled hurt? do they numb it? HELP!!!??

Braces and four teeth pulled!!? PLEASE READ!?
When I had braces, I got 3 teeth pulled, all in one appointment. That in itself was a little much-I%26#039;d suggest dividing it into 2 appointments if you can. Braces don%26#039;t really hurt-the doctor simply presses the silver brackets on each tooth and then a wire goes through the brackets. Once a month or so, he will tighten them, which can hurt a tiny bit, but it%26#039;s no big deal. The initial strain only lasts for a few seconds and then you feel normal again.

Best of luck :)
Reply:Before you go to the dr. to get braces take advil . It does hurt but you%26#039;ll get use to them after a while, and pulling out teeth does hurt, but it depends on the dr. if they numb your gum with novicain or not.
Reply:I had the EXACT same thing.

The braces hurt for the first few days, and the teeth don%26#039;t hurt at all.
Reply:The braces only hurt when they tighten them and the teeth puling doesn%26#039;t hurt.
Reply:calm down. i had braces and have gotten teeth pulled;; its not that bad

bfore getting braces take some advil, so it wont be as sore. and jsut eat soft food afterwards

they do numb you and trust me you dont feel a thing. the needle only feels liek a pinch and then you dont feel anything else
Reply:Of course they numb you. It isnt that bad getting teeth pulled. My son had 6 teeth pulled before he got his braces. Now he has them off and has a beautiful smile:) There will be some pain. But it isnt that bad, so no worries:)
Reply:yes it hurts -- bad.
Reply:no they wont hurt

i have had braces for 2 years now

bout to get them off =]

they dont numb it

but trust me it wont hurt when their putting it on

they will hurt the night u get them on

and u wont be able to eat anything for atleast 2 days

it will all be worth it when ur teeth are straight
Reply:I had the EXACT same procedure about 3 months ago.

I got my braces on, then about 3 or 4 weeks later I got 4 teeth pulled, 2 on top 2 on bottom, and that was a bit nerveracking/painful. It doesn%26#039;t hurt during the pulling because yes, your mouth is numbed, but its very uncomfortable after. For about 3 days.

And yes, braces do hurt for at the most 1 week. Its really weird the first time because you dont expect your teeth to hurt and then like 2 hours later all of a sudden you bite on some food and its like holy Sh!t OWW!

lol

BUt dont you worry bowt a thing sweetie, you will be sooo happy once you see your teeth moving along after a few months after youir teeth are out.
Reply:1. Yeah this happened to me about 10 months ago and you will get 2 appointments, 2 teeth out for each appointment.

2. Braces will hurt alot for the first week so try to take some painkillers like paracetimol, I would suggest that you try eating soft foods something like porridge or soup when you get the braces.

3.You get a few injections in your mouth, anaesthic I think. The dentist will then wait for about 5 mins for the medication to settle in and then pull your teeth out. It%26#039;s scary if you think about it but you wont feel anything other than pressure. I guarantee you wont feel any pain at all.
Reply:I can only offer help with the teeth pulling but not braces:

Ive had 3 teeth pulled (not wisdom) i just had a local anesthtic no sedation nothing and was fine,i had it all done in one vist and it lasted about 30 mins for all of the teeth to be taken out,

They will numb for the teeth pulling which is a small pinch

Felt slightly sore afterwards so took normal pankiller and was fine

Really hope it goes well,

Gd Luck

Getting teeth pulled for braces...DENTISTS PLEASE!!?

What should I expect? Im getting 4 pulled in all but over 2 visits, 2 teeth one visit, then 2 weeks later the other 2.

IF YOU%26#039;VE HAD THIS DONE BEFORE-What does it feel like? Does it bleed a lot?

DENTISTS-Any advice? Please, help me, Im very nervous. How long does it take you to pull out 2 teeth on average?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Getting teeth pulled for braces...DENTISTS PLEASE!!?
You;ll get some injections to make you numb, you%26#039;ll wait about 10 minutes for that to take effect and then in about 30 seconds each, your teeth will be out. If you are around 12-14 year old, these teeth always comeout very easily.
Reply:Well for me it did bleed a lot. It hurt and I wasnt really able to talk. It is not fun and it is painful and gross. It takes around 20min to pull out 4 teeth so 4 teeth would probaly take about 10min.
Reply:You need to relax first. It sounds to me like they will put you to sleep. So all your worring is over. There is little to no blood. Don%26#039;t worry, you will be fine. Good Luck.
Reply:try seeing another dentist. a dentist i saw wanted to pull out four teeth, but then i went and saw two other dentists who both said that i need not do so.
Reply:I had braces for 5 years, I had to have 1 tooth pulled, and 8 molars that were impacted. It did not hurt, but I remember hearing and feeling tugging. But that was only for the one tooth, the other 8 I was put to sleep for... and I was very scared. Noone likes going to the dentist... on the upside, I lost 20 pounds :)
Reply:it wont take very long and you probably wont feel it unless its your wisdom teeth that are getting pulled they hurt
Reply:it doesnt take that long. maybe lik 10 minutes. they pulled out 4 of my teeth (2 top 2 bottom) and i got a total of 13 shots. after the first 2, they didnt hurt anymore cuz i was numb. I was numb for 2 days and its really hard to eat. And yeah, you bleed for like a half hour, (thats how it was with me) but it doesnt really hurt after all the shots but make sure you tell them to LET U GET NUMB first cuz my dentist just went right ahead.
Reply:I%26#039;VE DONE THIS OFTEN FOR MY PATIENTS. THERE IS NO REAL PROBLEM AT ALL. I USUALLY TAKE ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES. IF YOU ARE NERVOUS ASK TOBE PUT TO SLEEP.

Four teeth pulled 7 days ago, feeling extremely rundown, what should I do?

I had 4 teeth pulled a week ago. 3 wisdom and 1 other tooth. I have been able to verify that it is not a dry socket. I am feeling extremely rundown even with the pain meds given to me. I also have a stiff neck and pain in my jaw. I have a bad taste in my mouth and have since they first pulled them. What should I do?

Four teeth pulled 7 days ago, feeling extremely rundown, what should I do?
You should probably go to the doctor or dentist. You might have an infection in your mouth which can cause pain in your jaw and neck. If it is an infection, you will need medication for sure, because they can sometimes be fatal.
Reply:ihad three teeth pulled on friday and i have stitches in my mouth and still in a little pain if you have pain medicine crush them up instead of taking whole and they will get into your system faster hope u begin to feel better
Reply:your going to have pain in your jaw and neck post operatively after getting wisdom teeth out its the norm.

As for the bad taste try rinsing the area with corsodyl mouthwash this will help clean the wounds alternatively you could use salt and hot water.

give it time all will heal you have to allow your body to heal having teeth out is a form of surgery and you had 4 teeth removed 3 of which were wisys so well done you.
Reply:Chances are you not eating. This would cause you to feel extremely run down. Try sipping some vegetable juices, and smoothies with protein until it heals.
Reply:Eat more

Sleep more

Take multivitamins

Call up your dentist and see if they have any other suggestions or concerns, but honestly it sounds fairly normal to me.

Are you on pain meds stronger than ibuprofen? T3%26#039;s and the like can often make people tired or kind of stupid in the head especially if they aren%26#039;t used to them or haven%26#039;t taken them previously.

I had a bad taste in my mouth in the mornings til, oh, 9 days after my 2 wisdom teeth got pulled. Your gum is probably still weeping some blood, and for some reason gum-blood tastes awfully nasty to me (like almost rotten meat), yet some seepage at this point isn%26#039;t unheard of either.

Try doing salt water rinses every few hours, fairly strong on the salt and rinse after with clean water, to promote healing and harden up the gum a bit.

Going to get my teeth pulled today?

i am going today to get my 5 front teeth pulled out but the dentist wants to pull all of my wisdom teeth also but i dont know if i can handel th pain plus i am scared to go get just my front teeth pulled even tho they are putting me under to do so what should i do about the wisdom teeth also any tips on keeping myself calm before i go in?

Going to get my teeth pulled today?
that seems like alot of work for one vist, maybe they will do it in two trips
Reply:No reason to get scare, with the best of medicine and sophisticated instruments the pain dose not occure in the procedurer. Only after removing the teeth try and have maximum cold thing like ICE Cream and so on. All the best
Reply:If you get it done in one shot, the pain is actually less, I have had half of the extractions in one day and the other 2 weeks later. I regret going thru it twice.
Reply:the only thing that u are afraid of is the pain and beliieve me u are not going to have any pain at all as u will be under anaesthesia. just think of the advantages of getting that pain out of ur mouth. u will feel so much easy after u get those troublesome things out of ur mouth. so go ahead and one more good thing is u will ahve a lot of icecreams after so forget everything and think about what all icevream flavours u would like to have.
Reply:I just got mine pulled out today! (about 7 hours ago).

I had a molar and a canine pulled out. The whole procedure didn%26#039;t hurt at all, I actually think it%26#039;s worse getting your teeth cleaned or having a filling. It%26#039;s quick and painless.

When the anesthetic worse off, I felt a bit uncomfortable and my mouth was a bit bruised. I took Panadol to assist with the pain. Remember not to take Neurofen or Aspirin before and after the procedure as those drugs thin out the blood and it%26#039;d be harder for the bleeding to stop.

The annoying thing is the bleeding and you would have to stuff your mouth with gauzes and keep biting into them for 1-2 hours. My dentist couldn%26#039;t stress enough of the importance of having the blood clot on the empty sockets. You would have to be so careful with food and even drinking! You can%26#039;t rinse for a good 4-5 hours and you probably can%26#039;t eat for at least one to two days. I had cold soup for for dinner, not very enticing... Remember to have a big meal beforehand.

Good luck and don%26#039;t stress too much!

I%26#039;ve found this site really helpful: http://www.animated-teeth.com/tooth_extr...
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth pulled and I can rest assure you it%26#039;s no big deal at all. I was not in much pain what so ever. Nothing but a little ache for a few hours. Nothing for me to even think about taking a aspirin for. Let the dentist just take them out while your sleeping. Make my words... You will be a much much happier camper later on that you let him / her do this. Honestly? It%26#039;s really no no big deal at all. If it really hurt? I would tell you that it hurts but really there is like no pain. Just a little ache for a short short time. Take a few good deep breaths and know that you are not going to feel a ting. They will give you a pain shot before you even wake up so you will not feel any pain like you think you will be feeling and I%26#039;m sure as always? They will send you home with a script for some pain pills. Take them as instructed and you will breeze through this. Good luck ... :o)

Wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow- im shaking.?

i hate mouth pain. its the worst for me. but anways, im 17 and getting my wisdom teeth pulled out. im still debating on wether to get two pulled out at a time [either top%26amp;bottom left or right] so that i can eat somewhat comfortably on one side or just all 4 to get it over with. well, here are my concerns...

1. my teeth arent exposed yet, so, they have to cut them, right ? if thats the case, will i need stitches after? do stitches go away on their own or what? (never had them before)

2.i hate blood. how long till the bleeding stops?

3. do they give you vicodin ? i heard they did. if so, wouldnt that make you nauseas if you take it on a semi-empty or empty stomach?

4.does food get stuck in the holes? how do u take it out? rinse?

ahh. any advice would be nice. im literally shaking right now. is sleeping going to be an issue? will my pillow get soaked with blood. help me ? please. =(

Wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow- im shaking.?
They will cut them out. Even if they didn%26#039;t have to cut them out, you would still need stitches. You will have to go back in a few weeks to get then cut out.

It%26#039;s really not that bad. Just keep gause back there with some slight pressure by biting.

They gave me percocet and a high powered advil to take after the percoset runs out. I never even filled the prescription for the advil. Though it%26#039;s really up to the surgeon.

It does, try not to chew back there. You can use a toothpick to get the food out. I fould the plastic ones to be the best.

Make sure you eat first. You will NOT want to eat for a while after. Get some rest first too. It%26#039;s better for you to be awake for a few hours after. That way you can change the gause out and properly hold on the ice packs. Laying on the ice packs is not a good idea. Also try to get them to do both sides when you go. That way you won%26#039;t have to go back, and you won%26#039;t have to go through the pain twice.

It%26#039;s really not as bad as most make it out to be. You won%26#039;t feel any pain at the dentist. You get slight pain about an hour afterwards. Most of this pain is your tongue being sore from holding it out of the way for so long.
Reply:U WILL BE FINE. they will numb u ... so u wont feel a thing

they give u a little kleenex thing and bleeding ends in a couple minutes.

good luck
Reply:don%26#039;t worry about it and get it over with, they should shoot you up with lots of needles first, then, just concentrate on keeping your mouth wide open and tongue out of the way.if you need a secret to get thru this, try concentrating on the very best sex you ever had and before you realize it,it is done.the vicidin will not give you side affects
Reply:First of all- get them all out at once, that way you wont have to go through being nervous about it again. If you only do 2 of them, you may not ever do the other 2. to answer your concerns:

1. The best wisdom teeth removals are the ones that are not exposed. The dentist will cut the tissue to expose the teeth, then they will sew it back up--- this is good because you will heal faster and have less risk of a dry socket (this is something that can occur after surgery and can be painful). Some stitches disolve and some have to be removed-- that is strictly up to the dentist as to which one he/she will use.

2. The bleeding usually does not last long -- maybe 30 minutes. It is usually not alot of blood. Sometimes it looks like a lot because it mixes with your saliva. If you have problems with bleeding, you can soak a tea bag in hot water, let it cool off just a bit then place it over the extraction site and bite on it. This should stop the bleeding completely.

3. Any pain meds can cause nausea. But take them before the numbness wears off. You can try and drink something like ensure or maybe a few bites of ice cream to coat your stomach. THe dentist will determine which pain meds you get.

4. Food can get stuck in the holes. Not so much with stitches but it can happen. After the first 24 hours, do warm salt water rinses after you eat and this will help keep the areas clean.

Whatever you do, follow all directions for post op that your dentist gives you. You will be told not to %26quot;spit%26quot;, suck on a straw, smoke--anything that creates a suction in your mouth will dislodge any blood clots that form and start the bleeding over. It will also lead to dry socket. Do a soft diet for a few days and get lots of rest. No heavy lifting.

Use an old pillow case-- it will not be soaked with blood but if you drool while you sleep, your saliva may have some blood in it. If you are having sedation, sleeping will be easy. If you take your pain meds like your supposed to- sleeping will be easy. Both make you very sleepy.

I am a dental hygienist and I have also had this surgery done. I too was scared because I knew everything bad that could happen. I threw up all the way to the appointment. I had IV sedation. It was over in less than 30 minutes.. It was done on Friday and I was back to work on Monday. I just followed all directions and let people baby me all weekend. Good Luck%26gt;

Wisdom teeth pulled, WORST experience. This has given me nothing but panic and pain. I need some comfort.?

When I had them pulled 5 days ago I had crazy, severe bleeding. And now, the right side of my chin, cheek, and lower lip is tingly and numb. My teeth are also numb and heavy. Jaw is in pain. I have a small migraine on the left on and off through the day. There is slight pain when I swallow on the left. And my tongue is also partially tingly. Grrr, this pisses me off. I am just reminded of the fact that this could be permanent. I wake up all through the night, it%26#039;s just frustrating. I%26#039;m regretting the choice of my oral surgeon, who wouldn%26#039;t let me wait on taking out that specific tooth due to the fact that it could cause permanent nerve damage. I mean it%26#039;s not that he forced me to take that one out too, but of course when I%26#039;m thinking about it, sitting in front of him, and he tells me over and over his professional opinion about getting them all pulled out and that laughing gas is not the better choice for anesthesia, I%26#039;m going to listen to him. Is it likely that it will be permanent?

Wisdom teeth pulled, WORST experience. This has given me nothing but panic and pain. I need some comfort.?
Hmmm.... if the bleeding is heavy and isn%26#039;t stopping easily you should seek medical assistance. If you%26#039;re experiencing continued numbness or tingling sensations, go seek medical assistance. If you don%26#039;t feel comfortable with your oral surgeon then you should definitely go get checked out - wisdom teeth are often removed unnecessarily and it%26#039;s an operation that is often botched... if that has happened then you need to know ASAP so if you have any doubts or continuing symptoms then don%26#039;t delay, get it checked out. You cannot be too careful with your health.

Hope you%26#039;re feeling better soon.
Reply:I can only tell you about my experience. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed at once, two of which were impacted. It was an awful time with severe pain and swelling for about 6 weeks. I also had some TMJ probelms for a while afterwards. I am completely over it now with no lasting problems. Do you have some good pain medication? Also, is it possible you have a dry socket? Call your oral surgeon and tell him what is going on. Feel better!
Reply:It should pass soon enough, and think of it this way: It could be worse.
Reply:I would call the dentist and tell him about your complications, I would also tell him you need some stronger pain medication. If the dentist tells you this is %26#039;normal%26#039; or refuses to do anything about it I would go into the emergency room or stat care.
Reply:I definately feel your pain I had to have my gums cut open to get mine out I had no room for them to grow in , but I thank god they put me to sleep , but a day later my neck and face had swollen so much that they became one I hope the doctor gave you the tylenol w/ codiene or at least 800 mil motrin to help w/ the swelling. if not you need to call him or someone call for you cause I know it must be hard .. if he did not or will not get you a perscription go to an emerg room and explain your pain or go to the drug store and find the highest mil of motrin and add them to get 800 milgrams and take that every 6 hours then yake tylenol every 4. drink plenty of fluids cause it sounds like you may be a little dehydrated, the bleeding is normal.dont be alarmed just try to not use to much force if you use a straw the pressure will increase the bleeding , rinse your mouth out with warm salt water helps heal quicker and warm liquids and warm compresses really help as well and get some rest ... but that is the best I can help I wish I could take your pain away cause I know your just completly misserable : )

Wisdom teeth pulled out?

Hi, i have 14 years old and about to get my wisdom teeth pulled out. I know i am to young to get them pulled but the dentist is saying there all growing in weird directions and that they gotta take them out before they do damage to my other teeth. So i just wanna know how they put u to sleep, how fast do u go to sleep, does it hurt during, and does it hurt after?

Wisdom teeth pulled out?
I just got mine out a couple months ago, i was soo freaked out when they were going to put me to sleep. They put you on like an i.v thing, then poom right to sleep, and you wont remember, hear anything, or feel any pain until its totally worn off. I just went in, they put an iv on, and i said %26quot;your going to put me to sleep allready, i just got here!%26quot; and i was asleep! lol. Good luck, its not that bad, you%26#039;l be ok! :-)
Reply:usually they give you some gas stuff to breath and that makes you really sleepy. Then they will give you an IV and put you all the way to sleep, it goes really fast. You won%26#039;t feel anything during, but when you wake up and the pain meds wear off it will hurt some, make sure you take your pain pills on time, if they have to play catch up you get in a lot more pain. Get lots of soft foods like pudding jello ice cream to eat for awhile. Good luck.
Reply:They will probably give you some %26quot;laughing gas%26quot; through a mask which will make you feel silly. Then they will give you anesthesia and possibly an IV. It will make you go to sleep in about 5 or less minutes. You feel like you%26#039;re asleep during the whole thing and you can%26#039;t feel a thing. It will hurt afterward for a few days and you will probably only want to eat jello and frozen yogurt and stuff like that but they will give you pills for the pain. All in all, it%26#039;s not that bad and your mouth will feel better when you%26#039;re healed!
Reply:There are four common ways to do it.

1) You only recieve local anesthetic. This is fine for most people, and means the removal is painless.

2) Conscious sedation. You recieve an IV anesthetic as well as local anesthetic in your mouth. You are still conscious, but are sort of %26quot;out of it%26quot; and won%26#039;t remember the procedure.

3) Nitrous oxide aka. laughing gas is used. This is falling out of practise as it involves more risk than the other methods.

4) General anethetic. This is the most risky, and is rarely used unless the patient has a severe dental phobia.

If given the choice, I%26#039;d pick conscious sedation.

As far as post operative pain goes, it is usually only slightly worse than any other extraction. You may look like a chipmunk for a while. Normally, ibuprofen or paracetamol is enough for the post-operative pain, but many oral surgeons will also prescribe a small amount of stronger painkillers, such as Percocet or Vicodin for the first couple of days, if the extraction required more tissue dissection than normal.

I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it though. It%26#039;s a minor procedure, and most people have no trouble with it in terms of pain or anxiety.
Reply:OK...first don%26#039;t worry. I was put to sleep using a VERY small needle....just enough to administer the medicine. I%26#039;m a big chicken and it wasn%26#039;t anything. I dropped off to sleep, but I was kind of conscience of what they were doing. But I was feeling absolutely no pain and didn%26#039;t care if they took my wisdom teeth out my nose, I was so relaxed. I was just sleepy after wards and went home and slept it off. I did have pain after wards that I took medicine for. You just have to make sure the packing they put in the sockets stays put until they heal. Dry sockets are very painful. If the packing comes out...the dentist will have to repack it. You will also have to wash the sockets out to keep them clean. You will be uncomfortable for a while....but it will get better every day.
Reply:For having your teeth out, they will either give you %26quot;laughing%26quot; gas or give you medicine thru an iv to make you sleep thru the surgery. It puts you to sleep right away, less than a minute, and you will feel no pain during the surgery or remember it. Afterwards you may feel some pain, but the doctor will give you pain medication for that-just make sure to take it regularly, dont wait until its really sore to take more. Also, stay sitting or lying down for a few days to keep swelling and pain down. Because of your age, you will heal fast, so it shouldnt be a big deal-just make sure to brush brush brush afterwards!-to keep your mouth clean and avoid infection-even though it will bleed a little when you do.
Reply:If your dentist has decided you need to get them out that is probably for the best. They can harm the other teeth both by pushing them so that teeth can come a little bit out of position, but they can also start %26quot;eating%26quot; on the teeth close to them so that it harms the neighbouring teeth. If they grow in even more weird directions they can interfere with nerves going through the jaw.

Are you sure you will be put to sleep? That is not normal procedure even if you are having surgery. Some people get that though if they are in very difficult positions or if it will for other reasons be difficult to go through with the procedure with the patient awake. The usual procedure is to use local anasthetics wich means you won%26#039;t feel anything but will be awake. In either way it can hurt afterwards, put paracetamol or ibuprofen will help you. Just do what the dentist tells you after the surgery - mouth rinse and so on - and hopefully it shouldn%26#039;t bother you much.

Good luck, it%26#039;s a good thing you won%26#039;t ever have to worry about those little things anymore then;)

Does getting teeth pulled hurt?

I am slow at getting my teeth to come out, and I still have 2 left and I need to get them pulled. I am terrified of the thought of things going in my mouth and I even thought it hurt when I got my tooth filled. How much will getting my teeth pulled hurt? =/

Thanks :)

Does getting teeth pulled hurt?
I%26#039;v only had one tooth pulled. It didn%26#039;t hurt they numb your mouth so it won%26#039;t hurt. You can feel it but it doesnt hurt
Reply:Only when they put the needle in to numb your mouth.

Good Luck!
Reply:not much pain at all because you will be basically high on drugs!
Reply:No as long as they freeze it!
Reply:Not too bad. U get laughing gas. You will be in pain, but its not too bad i guess.
Reply:Yeah it hellza hurts! most painful thing except childbirth... Agonizing and excruciating pain... Sucks for you
Reply:the shot has a lilltle sting, but the tooth pulling just has a lot of pressure to it, and sort of a small sting when it fully comes out.. but everyone takes pain differently
Reply:it doesn%26#039;t hurt while they pull them out because youre numb. But after that wears off, heck yeah they hurt
Reply:it dont hurt that bad thay put alot of crazy stuff so you cant feel anything for like a day
Reply:Oh yeah it hurts... But its not when he does it, its the after fact... You cant eat nothing solid for like a week.. You wont feel when its pulled cause you ll be all drugged up.. Its the pain after that is a b*+*H!!! GOOD Luck
Reply:The process doesnt hurt that much because of freezing. It does however hurt for a few days after.
Reply:it hurts very much at least when dentist does mine !
Reply:Dental surgeries never hurt during if they%26#039;ve drugged you up properly. It%26#039;s the afterwards that%26#039;s uncomfortable.
Reply:well if your dentist isnt a moron then he should give you a good amount of numbing medication so you shouldnt feel it, but it will be tender after the numbing wears off and until the holes heal up. so you can ask him to prescribe some RX strength ib profin or something for that.

I havent had any teeth pulled in probably 10 years so my memory is vague, but i dont remember it being painful... and i have a very low tolerance for pain.
Reply:You won%26#039;t feel a thing. It will be a little sore after, but not bad. Good luck
Reply:To me, it hurts. I have to be put under. To do this, I have to see a specialist. Not everyone has the same issue with having teeth pulled. Some people say they don%26#039;t feel a thing! It depends completely upon how YOU FEEL. If you are frightened, I don%26#039;t think that helps. Let your dentist know how you are feeling and what your concerns are. Hope this helps.
Reply:It doesn%26#039;t hurt if they numb your mouth or give you gas. I remember when I was little I got some teeth pulled, and they made me choose this scented thing that goes over my nose, and they told me to breathe in it. Of course, at the time, I had no idea that they had gassed me, and I didn%26#039;t feel a thing.
Reply:The shot of novocaine hurts a little but not when you get your teeth pulled.
Reply:probably won%26#039;t be. my dad used to tie a string around my wobbling tooth and pull, i don%26#039;t remember it hurting. but at the dentist it definitely won%26#039;t.
Reply:I just had one of mine pulled last Thurs. The dentist put in plenty of novacane and I didn%26#039;t feel anything. However it has been a little sore the last few days but that is going away.
Reply:Not much. Discomfort as far as having a foreign feeling in your mouth but you can have your dentist prescribe you painkillers and never go through any pain.

I had my wisdom teeth removed, in a grueling, ugly procedure, because they were growing out crooked; I took painkillers and was never in any serious pain. Now I feel a zillion percent better because of it.
Reply:Well, when I got a tooth extracted, it didn%26#039;t hurt...at first. The numbing came but I could definitely feel the pressure of the tooth being pulled. It wasn%26#039;t exactly pain but you can feel the pressure and it just sort of scared of me. But I think you should be fine, the dentist will talk you through it. Good luck! :)
Reply:Getting bad teeth pulled hurts a whole lot less than living with pain in your jaws. Kinda like the mouse pulling the thorn from the lions foot. Just do it. It only sucks for a day or two. Way better than living in pain every day.
Reply:They will numb it a lot! when i was little i got both of my kanines pulled and they gave me like seven shots of novacane, and i didn%26#039;t feel a thing. You could also try nitroxide(laughing gas) it makes you happy and not as scared
Reply:ya they will freeze you up, so you don%26#039;t feel a thing ? are you talking about wisdom teeth or baby teeth if they think the tooth is kinda lose they might try to pull it without any freezing which may hurt
Reply:They will give you something to numb your mouth so the process shouldn%26#039;t be too painful, but afterwards once the numbness goes away, you probably will feel pain. I think they can prescribe pain medication or you can take OTC pain meds to help the pain. Always check with the dentist to see what he/she recommends.

Good Luck and hang in there!
Reply:As long as you get anesthesia, then no. :)

Depending on which teeth they are though, the level of pain will vary. Once the numbing the dentist does wears off then it may ache for a couple of days if it is a molar/wisdom tooth. Incisors and bicuspid removal is not as painful as those back teeth.

Good luck!
Reply:it will only hurt after the pain meds wear off but over the counter meds will cover it
Reply:When I got my tooth pulled, it didn%26#039;t hurt that much. In fact, I don%26#039;t think it hurt at all really, because they put this medicine in your mouth so it doesn%26#039;t hurt. It might hurt for a millisecond, but that%26#039;s it.
Reply:its not like you going to get your tooth pulled without any anaesthetic, so while you are getting operated on, it wont hurt, and it possibly wont hurt after the anaesthetic wheres off.

theses days, the needles (especially dental needles) dont hurt at all, and you barley feel the needle.

a lot of the time the stress before the dentist is much worse than the treatment.

good luck!!!

Wisdom Teeth Pulled?

when do you know when to get your wisdom teeth pulled because everyonce an awhile i get this pain from the tooth coming in i can see it coming in but then the pain disappears but now i have the pain and it doesnt feel like the pain is going to disappear if i should get it pulled does it hurt and how long is the recovery time

Wisdom Teeth Pulled?
I had all of mine pulled out. I knew they had to be pulled because they hurt, got a little infected and wouldn%26#039;t finish growing in because they didn%26#039;t have enough room. Having them pulled doesn%26#039;t hurt if you take Advil (for me it didn%26#039;t anyway, but I have a pretty high thresh hold for pain).

I think you should have a dentist examine you to decide though.
Reply:you REALLY need to get them out!!! i got mine out last may (i was 15) recovery time is different for everybody... mine was a couple of months before i could completely chew solid foods again... but my cousins was just a couple of weeks....
Reply:u shud consult ur dentist . while erupting wisdom tooth is painful like other teeth , remember it used to pain when our other teeth erupted .. but severe pain occurs in case of wisdom tooth when it not erruptng properly,it is tiltd .. then u need 2 get it extractd...it is done under local anesthesia so it isnt painful .. swelling if occurs goes within 2 -3 days
Reply:That would be best answered by a dentist. If you start feeling pain then that means it is rubbing against another tooth and an infection could start. Dentists usually numb the area and then you%26#039;ll feel no pain. He will advise what you should take for the pain after the procedure is over.
Reply:you need to go to a dentist and they will take ex rays of your mouth. when i got mine removed i was feeling 100% better after about a week.

Getting teeth pulled....?

Im getting my teeth pulled for braces...and im scared of the pain, and im talking, immense fear, this is my greatest fear in life is to get teeth pulled. Does it hurt like heck? %26gt;.%26lt; honest answers only.

Getting teeth pulled....?
The most pain comes from the shots you get to numb your mouth, but once the novacaine takes effect there is very little pain. You may feel some pressure, but if there is any pain tell your dentist. They can give you more novacaine. Most of the pain comes after the drugs wear off, but the dentist will prescribe something like vicodin to help deal with that pain.

Many dentist have gas nitrous oxide. It helps some but once your past the injections you will be ok. I recently got dentures and had 20 teeth pulled.
Reply:No. It is a little scary, but even if you are awake you are under so much local anesthesia that you can%26#039;t feel anything. I always get stressed before I go in, and then I leave feeling a little silly. And I%26#039;m TERRIFIED of dentists, especially teeth pulling.
Reply:Usually they numb it or put you to sleep, you can%26#039;t really feel %26#039;extreme%26#039; pain but it%26#039;s still a little bothersome. I hate getting teeth pulled too.
Reply:They will numb you before they do it...Its not as bad as you think its going to be..I had to have 4 teeth pulled for braces and I had myself all worked up for nothing...The numbing shots are bearable althought not the greatest feeling in the world and I was eating the same day as having my teeth pulled...Dont sweat it...Everything will be fine!
Reply:They most likely will put you to sleep, and after i got mine pulled i honestly wouldn%26#039;t have known they had done it if it wasnt for the gauze in my mouth. just so long as you follow the instructions the doctor gives you for follow-up (dry socket is no fun!), you%26#039;ll be fine. its more of a pain in the butt than anything, just enjoy watching movies and eating yogert for a few days :)
Reply:It is not painful at all. I had four extracted within the past two weeks. Just prepare to gag alot. But other than that I was fine....and these were teeth that were broken off underneath my gums.

Wisdom teeth pulled.. numbness & pain?

i just got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled on friday,

im healing just fine %26amp; most of the pain is gone. but one side of my lower lip/gums is still numb %26amp; my front bottom teeth [NOT my wisdom teeth] are hurting ! and as the numbness goes away the pain goes away. im not worried about the numbness going away or whatever, im just getting frustrated that my front little teeth are hurting... is that normal? im just pretty confused lol. i hope that made sense.. :]

Wisdom teeth pulled.. numbness %26amp; pain?
if you have the numbness still, the dentist must have damaged your nerve, it will take time to recover. Need to take a lot of Vit B to make the nerve regenerate.
Reply:yeah it%26#039;s normal...take something to ease the pain. If it doesn%26#039;t go away in another few days or so I would talk to your dentist.
Reply:I had the same pain, it%26#039;s basically from them putting so much pressuring and pulling that actually pull against your other teeth. It%26#039;s not an easy thing to do without pushing surrounding teeth.
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry about it. You just had tissue severed. The feeling will come back in a few weeks at the most. Once in awhile you have permanent numbness, but that is a rarity. Let yourself heal from the trauma and all will be well.
Reply:After there%26#039;s a change in the mouth, your body tries to adapt to it. I recently got a cavity filling myself, and it%26#039;s still a little painful. If you have a tooth pulled, your mouth should go back to normal in about 3 weeks.
Reply:Yes, this is totally normal! I just had two wisdoms removed on February 8th and have experienced the same pain! I called the oral surgeon and he said this is pretty normal.

Just remember to rinse with salt water and you should still be able to brush the front teeth. It will subside soon! Just remember that this is a lot of trauma to the mouth and your remaining teeth are adjusting to the new space and therefore your other, seemingly unrelated teeth may ache from time to time!

No worries!
Reply:Yeah my son (22) went through the same thing last month, also had 4 pulled. The first week was hell, excruciating pain, told he had dry socket. He was taking pain killers but they didn%26#039;t really do much.Even when he went back upstate to where he attends college,it was still bothering him going into the second week. But it did finally get back to normal, just took time.

Everyone reacts differently to this procedure, some get back to normal with little pain within a couple of days, others very painful and longer before it heals. He also complained that other teeth were hurting too....hang in there it will get back to normal!!!!

Wisdom teeth need pulled, have some questions?

one of my wisdom teeth are coming in and im having tons of pain and after a week i broke down and went to the dentist, he said i needed to get 3 wisdom teeth removed(i dont have a 4rth one) and im having pain on the one thats coming through now because of the top one biting down on the gums. he can pull the top one out now without putting me to sleep just to stop the pain but i will still need to go to oral surgeon to get the others removed. i cant get into the oral surgeon for 3 more weeks and thats only a consultation. it hurts bad and im freaked out about having teeth pulled. should i tough it out or go ahead and get the one removed?

Wisdom teeth need pulled, have some questions?
Get them removed. I was nervous also to get my teeth out, but once I got there I realized it wasn%26#039;t so bad. They put you to sleep but it%26#039;s not like the anesthesia you get when you have major surgery. It%26#039;s just a medicine that knocks you out, there%26#039;s no tubes down your throat. It only takes about an hour and then you get pain pills to help the aftermath. I had it done a month ago and still have holes, but it is far less painful than when those teeth were ripping into my cheeks and gums. I think you should just get it done. You%26#039;ll be very glad you did!
Reply:get it pulled. 3 weeks is a long time when a tooth hurts
Reply:get it out as soon as possible, its only going to get worse. It will also start to affect your ears for some reason. Very bad idea to wait any longer than you have too. Good Luck
Reply:Let the oral surgeon get them all now. I guarantee you have no worries in the hands of an oral surgeon. He may even put you to sleep or in twilight sleep.
Reply:Don%26#039;t wait! Get it pulled right away if you have problems. The other 2 can wait. I had mine pulled one at a time.
Reply:Call around for another oral surgeon and take the earliest appt as possible. Get IV sedation you will be fine
Reply:I didn%26#039;t think wisdom teeth removal was that bad! They give you happy gas before and pain pills afterwords. The day of the surgery the gause is gross, and you get little jelly like pods in the areas, but its not to bad.

I would rather get my wisdom teeth out 10 times then my tonsils out as an adult (That was awful)!
Reply:Tough it out, believe me you will want to be put under or sedated. I was realy scared and I am glad I went to an oral surgeon, because under the meds, I was soooo relaxed!! A specialist realy knows what he is doing and they do it quickly!!!
Reply:Get the one pulled that is hurting. Make the appointment to get the other ones removed when you can get into the oral surgeon. It probably is only the one coming through that is causing you so much pain. The others should be OK until you get into an oral surgeon. Don%26#039;t try toughing it out. The holidays are here, so get your tooth pulled and enjoy them. There is time enough for the oral surgeon after the first of the year.

Good luck to you.

Teeth Getting Pulled?

My fiance is getting his wisdom teeth pulled on the 25th. Is there anything he needs to do before or after they get done.

He is getting 4 teeth pulled.

Teeth Getting Pulled?
He should not take any aspirin at least 10 days before. aspirin thins your blood and there is a good chance of excessive bleeding .Another thing is to make sure there is a lot of ice available for ice packs afterward. Have a specified %26quot;drooling %26quot; towel and pillow ready for his return home. Popsicles and juice should be already available. I also think you should go through your movie selection and have his favorite ones readily available. the first day after will be very uncomfortable so think of everything a head of time that will make him comfortable. Oh yes -buy the way he may not be a typical male but in case he is , he%26#039;s gonna want you stay close %26quot; don%26#039;t leave me here like this %26quot;, so it might be good for you to have a deck of cards or what ever you can think of to retain your sanity. Men are big babies when it comes to pain .
Reply:After they pull them, the place where he gets them out will instruct him on how to recover, I wish him the best! :)
Reply:Hello, I am a dental hygienist and my father and both brothers were/are dentists..... four at a time is a real stretch.... if they are impacted..... I pray he is going to a maxofacial surgeon and not a general dentist..... Wisdom teeth have very very little root therefore are usually very easily removed. However, sometimes they can be very impacted and need to be sectioned to come out... taking a long time and leaving you with lots of pain..... but that is not bad, for there are meds.... use ice afterwards 10 min on and 10 off...... Why is he not doing one side at a time..... all four quadrants are very difficult. unless the doc knows by xray that they have no root and will easily just roll out. Please make sure you are using an oral surgeon........ sometimes these docs try to do everything and in the middle have to section and send you to a surgeon. Very few are ever scheduled for all four at same time... usually one side at a time..... anyway, if i can be of anymore help, please email me.... G-d Bless, sally you seem young but make sure he has no heart murmur and no reason to take antibiotics first.... 4 at once is going to be hard, but i have seen it done. one other thing that can happen is called a dry socket... where the top heals over and leaves a pocket of air.. this is extremely painful and you must immediately return to doctor for him to re open the wound., they will give you a syrginge to clean out the holes.... use it.... sally
Reply:Do not drink I went to see Slaughter at the Alrosa Villa the night before mine were pulled. I had been to hundreds of shows and this was first club concert I had ever been too. They had local bands open and Slaughter did not take the stage till midnight. I got drunk as a skunk in a brewery.

The next morning my blood was so thin I bleed like crazy and my blood would not clot!

If he is a smoker do not smoke for 24-48 hours or you will get dry socket it is the most pain you will ever feel in your life.

I was scared so I took a blindfold and walkman ( before i-pod era) with me and did not hear or see a thing.

Eat only soft foods for a few days like mashed potatoes and do not eat nuts or anything that can get stuck in the new creators in your mouth.

Got teeth pulled out, how do I clean them to keep them?

Hi,

I got 4 teeth pulled out recently, and I got to keep the teeth. The dentist said that if I want to keep them for more than a few days, I should use some type of bleach to clean all the blood off the teeth.

So, What exactly do I clean the teeth with?

Thanks

Got teeth pulled out, how do I clean them to keep them?
peroxide is the bleach in most tooth whiteners. just do it 5 mins at a time and you should be ok. you can overbleach teeth with peroxide and they turn translucent looking and its kind of creepy. don%26#039;t go too far with it.

bleach like clorox will hurt the enamel. stick with cleaning them with tooth bleech. you can get a cheap tube for about 6 dollars at walmart. by the way -- the roots won%26#039;t clean white like the tooth part will. fun with teeth.
Reply:I%26#039;d try denture cleaner, the tablets you drop in water and they foam up. They should give a good cleaning, and the stuff is gentle enough not to eat away at your teeth.
Reply:Warm water and salt mixed and you just drink but dont swallow and keep it in your mouth for 3 min. and spit dont wash.
Reply:Your supposed to keep them as a memory i think. put them in a small case in box thats in the attic or sumthin
Reply:Soak them in H202. (peroxide)
Reply:YOU CAN IMMERSE THE TEETH IN BLEACH FOR 10 MINUTES AND RINSE IN REGULAR WATER. TEETH SHOULD BE STORED MOIST TO KEEP THEM FROM BECOMING BRITTLE AND CRACKING.

7 teeth pulled before braces?

The dentist wants to pull 2 teeth on top and 2 on bottum to make room for my teeth to straighten out. also wants to pll the only 3 wisdoms that grew in. thats 7 teeth in 1 day. Will it hurt? shld i do wisdoms first then the next day the 4 teeth? do they put u out? im so scared

7 teeth pulled before braces?
The only thing no one has mentioned is why your dentist wants to pull your teeth if the first place. I am a dentist and would get a second opinion from an orthodontist. Assuming you are young, pulling your 4 premolars to make room is a bad idea and will most likely flatten your profile. Your wisdom teeth can go...makes movement easier for ortho but I would not reccomend the extractions of your premolars...Please go get a second opinion from a young orthodontist. The technique you are having done is old and used only in adults and very extreme cases these days

Good Luck
Reply:You can move the 2nd and third molars back to gain space and widen the arch. to remove the premolars they will make your arch even narrower and flatten your profile. Orthodontists were trained this way in the past but there are always newer techniques Report It

Reply:Its no big deal I had 6 teeth pulled right before braces. they numb you its not bad at all. The braces on the other hand hurt but they will be worth it when you get your pretty smile ;)
Reply:All in one go, much better than 2 separate procedures.
Reply:They will probably put you under. I had 10 teeth done at once before braces. It was not too bad after the novacaine wore off, I was drooling a lot.
Reply:Hell ya thats gonna kill you!!! why need braces when there pulling all your teeth out?? jk :) goodluck and take meds before you go..
Reply:First off, I can%26#039;t imagine a dentist pulling 7 teeth in one day. Don%26#039;t let them do it even if they want to. You can ask at your dentist to see if they will put you out for your wisdom teeth. I got 5 teeth pulled right before I got my braces on and they were all on the top. It didn%26#039;t hurt at all. Your wisdom teeth might be the only sore ones. Don%26#039;t be scared, you will do just fine. Just make sure and ice your mouth to help with the swelling and any bruising you may get from your wisdom teeth. Good luck and hang in there!! Be strong!!
Reply:I had six pulled before I had braces put on and my four wisdom teeth several years later. They want to pull all of them in one day? That seems odd. I had the three on the right pulled and then the three on the left pulled a couple weeks later so I had a side of my mouth that I could chew with while I healed.

They may or may not put you all the way under. With my wisdom teeth I was because they were impacted (not out at all), but not with my other teeth. However, you%26#039;ll get Novocaine and you can also ask about nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Some dentists do it and some don%26#039;t.

Getting teeth pulled isn%26#039;t the worst thing in the world, although there is pain afterwards. It%26#039;s worth it, though, when you get the braces off and your teeth are straight and beautiful.

Good luck!
Reply:I would see if they could do one SIDE at a time. They would have to numb your entire mouth to do them all at once, and there could be problems with that (ie - biting your tongue or mouth, etc). This would also allow you to be able to eat on one side while the other is healing.

The pulling of the teeth themselves isn%26#039;t painful at all if they numb it up pretty well - in my opinion, it%26#039;s the shots that hurt, but that doesn%26#039;t last long. Once it%26#039;s numbed you won%26#039;t feel anything. They will probably tell you that you%26#039;ll only feel a little pressure when they pull it (I didn%26#039;t feel anything).

Try your best to follow their aftercare instructions very carefully, otherwise you may develop dry socket, which I have heard is very painful.

Again, I would see if they can just do one side at a time. Don%26#039;t worry, it won%26#039;t be as bad as you think. Best of luck to you!

Edit: Oh, I understand hun believe me. I%26#039;m 20 and just had a wisdom tooth out for the same reason. My teeth are very crowded and there%26#039;s just no room for the wisdom teeth. I had 2 coming in that were impacted, and right now the others are showing no signs of cutting through right now. I%26#039;ll eventually wind up with braces as well, but I am going to try and hold onto as many of my teeth as possible. Again - good luck!
Reply:dont be scared all they gonna do is pull it out.

i had that time but its all worth it.

u can do it!!

%26lt;%26lt;333
Reply:You can be knocked out if that%26#039;s what you want to have done, but it%26#039;s better for you if you aren%26#039;t put under. Being put under always carries some risk and the recovery time is longer.

I would say it would be easier on you to have them all done at once. Just make sure your dentist knows you fear the pain so that he can give you a prescription for it.

Make sure you understand what you need to do to take care of your mouth after the extractions. Having a dry socket, where the blood clot comes out of the hole left by the missing tooth, can be very painful so you want to make sure you know how to prevent that from happening. Infections are bad in your mouth as well, so you also want to prevent them.

Listen to your dentist and all should be well. Any questions, ask. That%26#039;s what they are there for...

Good luck.
Reply:I was told i am getting all my baby teeth pulled out (which i still have) and i am almost 16......but my dentist says this every year and doesnt do it....he also says i should get braces....and again doesnt do anything...........dead annoying? has anyone here still got baby teeth? dont no y ur dentist is pulling ur wisdom teeth out...ive got mines
Reply:I had 4 out, 2 of them had just started to come through! =/

They won%26#039;t pull out all 7 teeth in one day, they will do one side of your mouth the first time and then the other side the next.

They don%26#039;t put you out, they will just give you a needle to numb your gum which is probably the worst part for me. Then they take the teeth out which doesn%26#039;t actually hurt, it%26#039;s just not nice. Don%26#039;t be scared though, it%26#039;s over really soon and will all be worth it.

Good luck x

Teeth pulled, recovery time?

Lat time I had a tooth pulled, it was major-infected (abscessed) and my face had swelled up really bad. It took almost 10 days to get back to normal.

This time I%26#039;m having 2 teeth pulled that aren%26#039;t infected (wisdom).

While the recover time be shorter? Less painful? I just need to plan my week and wondering how much time I%26#039;ll need. Any ideas?

Teeth pulled, recovery time?
You shouldn%26#039;t have any problems, and you%26#039;ll look normal after about 48 hrs- JUST FOLLOW ALL THE DENTIST%26#039;S POST-PROCEDURE DIRECTIONS. You won%26#039;t be able to drink through a straw or chew with your back teeth. Or smoke, but you don%26#039;t smoke, right?

Doing those things can dislodge the blood clot from your extraction site and cause the dredded dry socket. Dry socket hurts like a sonofagun.

Son's front teeth pulled?

On Tuesday I have an appointment to get my one year old son%26#039;s two front teeth pulled because of Baby Bottle Mouth. He wasn%26#039;t with me when he got this. The dentist said I had two options which was to get a root canal done on his teeth then put crowns on them or get them pulled. She said it would be easier just to get them pulled but I feel like I should get the crown on them even though they are baby teeth.Im scared he%26#039;s going to get made fun of when he starts school and for every picture until he gets his adult teeth he%26#039;s going to look goofy. So I don%26#039;t know what I should do and which is best for him.

Son%26#039;s front teeth pulled?
It is actually not good to get them pulled, you should get them fixed and have caps put on them. I know a girl who did this to her kids and then she took them to a dentist that specializes with kids only, and he told her she should have never done this.

I was trying to call her and get the reason why, but cant seem to get in contact with her.
Reply:Do not get his teeth pulled! He will need them to eat and such. Oh my god, I cannot believe the dentist would even suggest that.

Talk to a pediatrician and ask him what you should do.
Reply:Go ahead and let them pull his teeth. He doesn%26#039;t need the front ones to guide in the new teeth and it%26#039;s less invasive on him. He will be fine and won%26#039;t be made fun of. My son had to do this for same reasons. My fault, I was a new mommy and didn%26#039;t know and would put him to sleep with a bottle. He%26#039;s 11 now and not once was he made fun of for missing his 2 front teeth. He looked way better than he did with the teeth and his adult teeth have since come in a long time ago. Good luck with his teeth.
Reply:you should get him silver teeth caps until he starts 1st grade then they could either fall out or get pulled out so his adult teeth could start coming in. that happens to alot of kids. it would be normal because most kids teeth fall out around first grade anyways.
Reply:Your fears are very real. He%26#039;s just one? I would get at least another dentist%26#039;s opinion on this. For some reason , this just doesn%26#039;t sound right.
Reply:Baby bottle tooth decay not only can cause painful toothaches, it can create feeding and nutritional problems and may lead to middle ear infections. In very severe cases, decayed teeth can become so infected that they may need to be removed. If a child loses a tooth too early, it can result in poor eating habits, speech problems and loss of self esteem. Baby teeth also play an essential role as space holders for permanent or adult teeth. Premature loss of baby teeth may create changes in the growth of the jaw. If adult teeth cannot assume their proper position in the jaw, extensive orthodontic repair may be required later on.
Reply:My daughter lost 4 teeth by the time she started kindergarten. She got her teeth very early and lost them early. She was never made fun of. Kids can be cruel but I think they start becoming that way later on. If your son needs his teeth pulled, by all means do it. I think either option you have been given will be traumatic regardless. I%26#039;m not sure what I would do in this situation. Best of luck to you, and his adult teeth WILL come in eventually.

Tooth pulling for my dad...?

He wants me to pull out his tooth because it%26#039;s loose. He%26#039;s old, so his teeth are going bad. I want to try tying his tooth to some floss and tie the end of the string to a door knob and close. I don%26#039;t want to hurt him, because he%26#039;s kind of sensitive. Does anybody have any suggestions? I told him to drink a lot of milk and swoosh him mouth with it also. Don%26#039;t know if that will do anything, but still, milk is calcium.

Tooth pulling for my dad...?
Even if the tooth is loose, it has roots, these roots won%26#039;t be disturbed by the floss and door knob trick. The only way that the tooth can %26quot;safely%26quot; be removed is by a dentist.

I would strongly recommend you take your Dad to a dentist since the possibility of %26quot;infection%26quot; is high, and if it is infected it can affect his whole body. This tooth may need to be treated with antibiotics prior to any extraction procedure and it may require the tooth be extracted at a later date, after the antibiotics have time to take effect. This way the infection won%26#039;t spread during the extraction and the anesthetic will be effective when used.

I hope I%26#039;ve been of some help and that you will take your Dad in for dental treatment soon. Good luck!

Additional information: Calcium is supplied by the foods we ingest, it can%26#039;t be absorbed by swishing milk in your mouth. If it could we would all have great teeth!
Reply:That is good news, follow the advice his dentist offers to resolve this problem in a timly manner. Report It

Reply:For God%26#039;s sake: take him to a dentist!
Reply:Do you have a specific dentist that you personally go to? Or even that he goes to? I%26#039;d think the best bet would be to simply call and ask them if that would be ok.
Reply:have him rinse his mouth with alcoholic mouth wash for like 5 minutes or until he fells that the inside of his mouth is kind of numb than BANG!!! slam the door!

and after wards have him rinse his mouth with salt water to stop the bleeding quickly
Reply:If I were you I would go to a dentest and ask what you should do. But if you do pull it tie a string to the tooth and pick an umber 1-20? and tell him to count to 20 fast and pull it when you here the number, it won%26#039;t hurt much if the tooth is real loose. you might want to put numbing liquid on the gum.

24 hour tooth pulling?

I had to get 2 teeth pulled out and im deathly scared of it because when i was little i fainted because of getting teeth pulled. I managed to pull 1 tooth out and i only have 24 hours to get the second out. Any suggestions?

24 hour tooth pulling?
If you were able to pull out your own tooth, there must have been perio involvement for it to be so loose... and did you get the entire tooth out or just the %26#039;top%26#039; part? You may have made your predicament worse if that%26#039;s the case...

Ask for Nitrous Oxide when you go to the dentist... it%26#039;ll calm you down, and it%26#039;ll be out of your system by the time you leave the office!

Best of Luck!
Reply:I%26#039;m afraid of the dentist is too. Particularly when they%26#039;re pulling teeth out of my head. I found a %26quot;sleep dentist%26quot; who will give me a general anaesthetic if I ask, I%26#039;m planning to have all my dental work done in one go while I sleep! Cant be more painful that ripping your own teeth out!!

After having teeth pulled, and having stitches coming out?

I just got four teeth pulled 7 days ago, they had to stiche the bottom wisdom teeth, the other day to make a long story short, the stiche came out easily and no pain at all when i pulled on it, because it was barely in. Today i felt the same thing in the back of my mouth so I went to do the same as before, and it hurt and i could feel it pull on my gum. now it hurts alittle bit, very uncomfortable too having it back there. I do have the desolveable ones in.

My question, is this safe? How long do stiches normally stay in, (and yes i do smoke) but i try to be carefull most the time and not suck to hard, obviously not doing it soft enought though because it has caused the stiches to come out.

So will my teeth be okay, should i go back to the dentist or just let it gradually desolve from the position it is in right now? and how do i know if i have a dry socket? I feel no pain and havent, but what would it start to look like? Please help, my dentist is closed today! thankyou

After having teeth pulled, and having stitches coming out?
I had my wisdom teeth pulled last Monday. The doctor%26#039;s said my stitches will dissolve on they own. My paper work said no smoking for 7 days and to eat soft foods. If you feel any pain then either take the prescribed pain meds or take 2 Aleve%26#039;s
Reply:Go to Doctor, dont waste your time.
Reply:any suction will irritate the area. contact your dentist who you saw and consult with them. even though the office may be clsed, they will usually have an emergency number that will direct you which way to go or put you in contact with someone who can help.
Reply:Usually the dentist will have you back after a week to check the area and take out the stitches. It is not uncommon for a stitch to pop out before that.. If you are not having any pain it should be fine but you should go back for the check. You should not be charged for that appt. Dry sockets hurt alot! You would know if you had one.

Teeth pulled how long?

have two infected teeth one is a wisdom tooth that is broken whole middle is gone and outside broken almost to gums the other tooth is next to that one and broken on one side..is it possible when they pull the front one the other one will be accesible since they are next to each other and how ong should it take and will it hurt during the process???

Teeth pulled how long?
If you have a good dentist it won%26#039;t hurt at all. they will numb you and if you request give you nitrouse (sp?) I recently had my wisdom and molar next to it pulled and other them really scary noises I had no pain. The pain comes after the novacane weres off, and by then you should have some kind ogf pain pills to help with that (prescribed by the dentist). Within 24hrs I had no pain and did not need the pills-Good luck because having them pulled is way better them having them hurt!
Reply:You probably are going to have to be knocked out for this procedure, and it will be chipped out of your mouth. You will probably look at 1 hour total for the procedure.
Reply:wow do you brush ur teeth
Reply:It should take no longer than 20 minutes and as far as hurting.. not really with the Novocaine or whatever they use nowadays.. the hurt is minimized considerably... not to worry really
Reply:have them num u alot i got 4 teeth pulled it hutr after a wile but nothing 2 bad if they num u alot
Reply:Get put under and you care how long it takes. I am a pansy and I got 2 wisdom teeth yanked last year....it was no thang....I woke up and never knew what happened....it took forever for the bleeding to stop but really the pain afterward if there was any was nothing compared to the pain that sent me to the place in the first place.
Reply:Usually the infection pain is worse than the pulling. They will numb you to the point you won%26#039;t feel much but tugging. You will hear some cracking, yuk, but it%26#039;ll be ok. Then, they should give you Vicadin and Naproxin. One for pain the other for swelling. The next day you will feel soooo much better.
Reply:No...........it won%26#039;t hurt.....will take about 20 minutes......

As your sons teeth are carious/decayed than removing the existing caries is a must to prevent futher loss of tooth structure.

Rampant caries or baby bottle caries are the most common cause of decay in small children.

If the caries Involve pulp even then root canals(pulpotomys/puplectomy in children) can be done,If it involves extensive loss of tooth structure than Crowns are recommended.

Also keep in mind that it is Very Important to save these teeth till the age of 7-8 years,as they guide the eruption of permanent teeth, also aid in preventing malocclusion,Donot get them extracted and try to save them by conservative means.Look at the eruption chart:

http://www.mchoralhealth.org/pediatricoh...

So make it sure that these teeth are saved, fluoride application will benefit in preventing any further damage,it will surely aid in delaying the tooth decay process.Read about it more here:

http://www.umanitoba.ca/outreach/wisdomt...

This what you can do for preventition of any decay further and damage other teeth

1)Take care to clean the childs teeth after every feed.

2)Also take care to change the babys feeding habits, avoid bottle feeding before sleep, Isolate the sugar factors from the diet chart and control sugar exposure.
Reply:Well It would hurt him less if he just had them pulled. And he could not show his teeth when he smiles?

I feel sorry 4 him. Hope he does not get made fun of 4 either choice you make! xoxoxoxo
Reply:GABIE,

A PEDIATRIC DENTIST CAN ALWAYS EXTRACT CONSIDERING HE%26#039;S SO YOUNG. REMEMBER, NOTHING BUT PLAIN WATER AT NIGHT, NO MILK, JUICE OR ANYTHING IN A BOTTLE CONTAINING SUGAR. THESE UPPER TEETH WOULD START TO BE REPLACED BY ADULT TEETH WHEN HE%26#039;S AROUND 7.
Reply:Put the crown. My teeth are messed up because the Dentist had to take it out.Just put the crown it dosen%26#039;t hurt a bit and the teeth will be straight and he won%26#039;t need braces!
Reply:First you need to ask the dentist if the crowns would be siliver crowns, because most dentist office will only put silver crowns on baby teeth. Then ask the price difference in both procedures, and choose whats best for you.

2 Baby teeth pulled; 2 adult teeth on the way... how long until they grow in though?

Alright... I got 2 baby teeth near the front pulled out because I%26#039;m getting braces soon and 2 adult teeth were above the baby teeth in my gums, waiting to come out...

But my question is, since I know they%26#039;re going to grow in anyways, about how long does it take for adult teeth to grow in after you%26#039;ve lost baby teeth?

2 Baby teeth pulled; 2 adult teeth on the way... how long until they grow in though?
it shouldnt take long at all last year i had ten baby teeth pulled, and like maybe less to a month to a month later they were coming up!
Reply:oh. if they pulled baby teeth you probably have the same %26quot;teeth growing rate%26quot; as me.

mine took about 6 months just to feel something small and sharp coming up.
Reply:well the tooth coming the the gum is called eruption. this may varies (differ) most peoples teeth *** through (Adult) 1 to 2 to 3 months don%26#039;t worry it won%26#039;t be that long LOL i hope i helped ! Cee* Bee*

Braces-do u have to pull your teeth out??/?

my dentist said that i have go to the orthodontist and get braces.

i m only 12 and my teeth are really crooked. my sister even calls me a vampire. i asked my friends (who has braces..) and they looked at my teeth and said that i need to get my teeth pulled out!!

i m really scared.,,, i seriously need braces, but i dont want to pull my teeth out! are there other braces that u dont have to pull your teeth out? my friend also said that if u pull many teeth out u have to get retainers forever...is that true?

Braces-do u have to pull your teeth out??/?
hey dont worry about what your friends said. Yes he has braces but he is not an orthodontist so he doesnt have any idea really what is going on with your teeth and mouth.

I would think that the only reasons you would need to get teeth pulled for braces would be if you have very crowded teeth or still have your baby teeth.

If u do have baby teeth still or crowded teeth dont worry tho because it doesnt nessesarily mean they will be pulled out. The orthodontist may b able to correct the crowding without removing teeth or if u have baby teeth he may just wait until they fall out naturally before you get braces.

If you do need teeth pulled then dont stress. When i was 12 i had a number of my baby teeth pulled out, i was awake for it and it wasnt to painful, even after it wasnt 2 bad.

So yea dont stress about it, just get the braces, its not really as bad as some people on here say it is. Plus once u get them off u will have real nice teeth and your sister wont be able 2 call u mean names because of your teeth.

I dont kno about the retainer thing, i have heard of people having 2 wear them foreva but i personally dont kno anyone who had to. All my friends just had 2 wear them for a year or something. i havent got my braces off yet so i duno if i will hafta.
Reply:did u ask ur dentist abt it?
Reply:They won%26#039;t pull your teeth out. You will have to wear a retainer at first, so your teeth won%26#039;t go back to the way they were, but only at night. Don%26#039;t worry, I had braces for 4 years. You will be so happy when you see how good your teeth look.
Reply:u dont have 2 get them pulled. only if theres not enough room in your mouth. or if ur dentist suggested pulling only a few out to make ur teeth look even better.
Reply:Okay, if your teeth are crowded then your mouth must be small, like mine. You need to get teeth pulled if you want straight teeth! I had 4 teeth pulled and justgot braces Wednesday. When I got the teeth pulled, all I felt was the pinch of the needle and the pressure of the tooth being pulled. It wasnt a big deal. And Im a wimp with pain. Email me if you want more info%26lt;3

But yeah if you need to have teeth pulled, heres what happens:

1. Your dentist puts numbing gel on your gums.

2. You wait a couple minutes then he gives you the needle (you feel a slight pinch, its nothing)

3. You wait about 15 minutes to get numb.

4. Then, the dentist wiggles the tooth back and forth for a few seconds, then pulls, and you dont even know its out!

Its not that bad, so please dont worry like I did. Email me if you need anything else like on getting teeth pulled or braces!%26lt;3

Good Luck!
Reply:Someone is messing with you ! It%26#039;s possible that you may need to have one or two pulled or have it worked on.

My three nieces all wear braces. They might hurt at first, other than that it%26#039;s no big deal !

Whatever you do,please follow your orthodontist directions on how to take care of them !

You do have to wear a retainer after you get the braces off, otherwise your teeth will go back and get out of alignment and get crooked again. You don%26#039;t want to go there again do you ?

Wearing braces is the best thing you can do for yourself !

Keep smiling = }
Reply:Sounds like you need to get some teeth removed but it won%26#039;t be too bad. Teeth come out really easy when your 12.

Get the braces-your teeth will look great.
Reply:um, i dont think they will pull out your teeth... i havnt heard of that before. I had braces, and they didnt have to pull our my teeth, my sister need to get spacers to make room for teeth, but they didnt have to pull any out.
Reply:no you don%26#039;t, i went to an orthodontist who was really like up to date on the whole braces thing and i he said he never pulls teeth, plus i was able to get my braces on the back of my top teeth so no one even knew i had braces.
Reply:fisrt of all your friends that have them are probably 12 aswell, so dont listen to anything that they say, wait and get a professional opinion. Your crowding may be correctable without removing teeth but dont be suprised if they need to it%26#039;s very common, and no it wont hurt.. Be brave and remember that means you can stay home from school for a few days and just relax!
Reply:Okay, even if you do need teeth pulled to make space, you will be numbed or even asleep for the procedure, so there%26#039;s nothing to worry about.

Before you get all tore up about it, go to the orthodontist and see what they say, You may have plenty of room. You may have a narrow arch rather than overcrowding and that can be fixed with an appliance that will broaden your arch and make space for the %26quot;vampire%26quot; teeth (which are just coming in a little high and to the outside?).

You don%26#039;t have to wear retainers forever either. You will probably wear them 24/7 the first 6 months or so (except to eat and brush your teeth). Then nights only for 9-12 months. Then you (and your orthodontist) really have to determine how much you need to wear them after that.
Reply:i doubt they will have to pull your teeth out. i have braces and august last year they told me i would need 4 teeth out. and in the end i didn%26#039;t need to get any pulled out because my teeth moved how they planned. And if you do have to get teeth pulled don%26#039;t worry, they will tell you far in advanced when and if you do. You will not just walk in one day and they will say we are pulling teeth. you should be fine!

best of luck to you.

3 teeth pulled out?

i had 3 baby teeth pulled out yesterday ( the adult teeth had grown already) well 1 came out completely and 2 came out about 3/4. its is all red and my gums are like halfway up my teeth like its swolen. how long does this take to go down? i got them pulled out at about 4:10 and its 6:40 the next day.

3 teeth pulled out?
A few days.

I had 4 teeth taken out so that I could get my brace, it took a few days for it to calm down and be able to eat solid foods again.
Reply:what do you mean 2 came out 3/4 s? did they extract them or not? I think you mean that your adult teeth were already emerging underneath.....keep an eye on the swelling...any sign of infection go back....meanwhile, wash mouth out with boiled water that u let cool down and add some salt....do this after food....careful brushing - avoid the area inflamed,,,,,asprin is not good...thins blood may lead 2 bleeding, use paracetamol based pain killer...should go down soon - call dentist and ask if u are really worried...

If i get my teeth pulled with my other teeth spread and is it worth it?

i am having my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow and i have two other teeth that have chipped because apparently i have soft teeth .. and my dentist told me i should have them both pulled along with my wisdom teeth because root canals dont always work .. but everyone i talk to about getting them pulled said dont do it or my other teeth will spread what should i do ? i am tired of having to watch what i eat because it hurts when i eat ... so do i eat better or worry about spreading ?

If i get my teeth pulled with my other teeth spread and is it worth it?
Asking for dental advice here is like asking your mechanic for advice on how to bake a cake. He might be great at it, or he might not be able to recognized sliced bread. And you%26#039;ll never know the difference.

Trust your dentist. He / she has studied a long time, and has passed numerous exams to get to this point in their life. He also has years of experience, too. Nobody knows the details of your case better. Yes, teeth WILL move if one is pulled. The tooth behind it might move forward, or it might tip slowly into that space. If it%26#039;s a problem, the dentist will recommend a bridge or some other solution.
Reply:They will spread a little, but does that matter? You are not likely to have huge gaps or your dentist would be recommending braces afterwards. Anyway, ask the dentist about it. They really care about how our teeth look, as well as how healthy they are.
Reply:Teeth cannot spread, they are solid.
Reply:depends, lemme see ur O face
Reply:Yes, teeth shift. I had one out and waited too long to get the gap filled. Now either I must get braces to tug the offending floater back, or root canal it to straighten it out so the gap can be filled. If you aren%26#039;t willing to part with your chipped teeth, please consult another dentist. There%26#039;s no shame in getting a second opinion.
Reply:i had 4 pulled out a spread when i was youngert. i dont know what they would have looked like if i hadnt had it done, but i think its worth it

My little sister is getting her teeth pulled...?

My little sister is getting braces, so her orthodontist said that she needed to get 4 teeth pulled (because her mouth was too small and her teeth were too big). My mom made a compromise, and decided to give my sister some time to pull the teeth out on her own. So far she has lost 2 by herself, but now she is running out of time and will need to get the other 2 teeth pulled. She is extremely nervous, and hysterically cries whenever we talk about it. Me and my parents are trying to convince her that it will be ok, but I don%26#039;t even know how much it hurts because I have never gotten any teeth pulled. Does it hurt? My mom says that the shots hurt a lot, but it numbs the pain of the actual teeth getting pulled. What can I do to help her?

My little sister is getting her teeth pulled...?
I had to get a tooth pulled and I was totally freaking out about it, that was one of my biggest phobias. But I felt NO pain whatsoever, not even the shot because the dentist rubbed this stuff on my gums that numbed them TOTALLY before he even gave the shot. In fact, I couldn%26#039;t feel my face for about 2 days afterwards LOL but I didn%26#039;t feel any pain at all, I was shocked.
Reply:Oh, for pete%26#039;s sake! Your mother would have spared you sister a LOT of pain and suffering, if she had just let the dentist do it right away. Pulling them herself is probably MUCH more painful than it would have been if the dentist had done it.

Yeah, the shot hurts, but for about 1/10 of a second...and only about as much as it hurts to get your ears pierced. If you have ever had a splinter, then you have already had as much pain as the shot would cause. And when the dentist pulls a tooth, there%26#039;s not much in the way of pain afterward - some soreness, to be sure, but usually not as bad as the average headache.

What a shame that your mother encouraged your sister%26#039;s fears. If she had simply shown a little fortitude, and had it done, your sister%26#039;s agony would have already gone away.

Edit:

Your sister may be okay with pulling the teeth she%26#039;s been able to get loose, but if your mom had just let the dentist do it, whatever fear your sister has now would have already been handled.

I think I have described what it feels like...the shot is about as painful as a little sliver, and the after effects are more like soreness than actual pain...like pushing on a bruise.
Reply:I had 4 teeth pulled when i was a kid so that i could get braces- they inject novocaine and it makes it easier- however she%26#039;ll definetely bleed and feel that her mouth feels extremely numb.. but its no big deal.
Reply:Your sister should NOT pull her own teeth out!!! She could cause serious damage to her gums and the bone structure of her jaw. Not to mention she is risking infection. That has to hurt, terribly, as well!

The shot that the dentist gives you to numb your mouth is not bad at all. They will usually use a topical gel on your gums, before using the needle, which really helps. Honestly, she will feel slight discomfort when the needle is inserted, but it numbs very quickly and I guarantee that it will be 1000 times easier, safer, and less painful than pulling one%26#039;s own teeth out. Please tell her to have her dentist do this for her.

Wisdom teeth pulled?

I went to the dentist today. I%26#039;m 18, both my top wisdom teeth have erupted but the bottom ones won%26#039;t %26#039;cause they%26#039;re rotated and impacted. He said I have to go to a orthopedic surgeon to have the bottom ones removed and they%26#039;re going to pull the top ones too to avoid problems. How do they pull them? How bad does it hurt? How long does it take to heal? I%26#039;m kinda scared, I hever had fillings, let alone teeth pulled :(

Wisdom teeth pulled?
Honestly, the anesthetic hurts more than pulling the teeth. They numb you up and then pull the teeth with pliers (medical ones) They give you pain killers most of the time. I think they were all healed up within the week.
Reply:you%26#039;re completely asleep when they do it
Reply:They basically give you novocaine a cut through your gums.
Reply:If they are not impacted, it%26#039;s not bad at all. You can even drive yourself home.
Reply:Congratulations.

The oral surgeon can use a variety of anesthetics.

There almost certainly will be local injections, (benzocaine, novacaine, or some other %26quot;freeze.)

A general anesthetic ranging from gas, (nitrous oxide aka laughing gas,) which will leave you awake but unaware; to total anesthesia, (you are totally asleep for the procedure, usually with an IV in your arm.)

Also the process of anethesia may well involve some kind of %26quot;don%26#039;t worry be happy%26quot; drug. Something to reduce your anxiety and tension. This could be a pill, or injected into the IV tube.

The procedure involves making an incision in the gum, and extracting the tooth. The resulting empty socket is packed with medicine soaked gauze. This gauze will eventually fall out and either be spit out or swallowed.

Recovery is normally quite easy.

Eat only liquids for about a day, soft foods for a day or two, and avoid hard crunchy things like popcorn and nuts for about 2 weeks. Don%26#039;t use straws or drink carbonated beverages. Certainly you will get complete instructions from the surgeon, so no worries there.

Take pain medication as prescribed if you are uncomfortable.

My personal recollection from when I was 19 is that there was practically no pain at all. I had local %26quot;freeze%26quot; injections, and gas, and headphones tuned to my favorite music.

I drifted off so far that I did not realize I was closing my mouth on the surgeon%26#039;s hand. He was smiling when he told me it was a bad idea to bite him while he had sharp things in my mouth. He put a rubber block in my mouth to keep it open. At the time I remember thinking that I must look like a rattlesnake trying to eat a rabbit, but I was still getting the gas, so what the hell.

Afterwards I was taking the Tylenol-Codeine that was prescribed. After a day or so I would take one pill just before bedtime.

There was no pain per se, just aching in the hinge of my jaws. Again, that visual image of a rattlesnake swallowing this really big, fat bunny. lol.

After a few days I didn%26#039;t even notice that I had been through the procedure.
Reply:They numb the nerves in your mouth when they do the operation. It does not hurt until the sedatives wear off, and after they do wear off, you only feel like something is missing. It just irritates you a bit like a nagging brother. Just ice it, it%26#039;ll all be over before you know it.
Reply:chances r you will be gassed up, dont sweat, i jus had surgery on the inside of my neck to remove a growth attached to my adams apple, ewww freaky, they put me to sleep, 1,2,3 i woke up
Reply:w3ll it does hurt alot but some ppl dont have to take theirs off but in ur condition u have to0o no matter what just be strong i always liek close my eyes and think of good stuff or i count to like 20 or something n not think about it . i have wisdom teeth still but thats another story lol.. Just go on with the procedure u%26#039;ll be fine iitl prob take like 2 or 3 weeks to heal and ur gonna be asleep so0o just sit tight n relax
Reply:you will go to an oral surgeon, they will put you to sleep, I had mine out, it didn%26#039;t hurt much at all. They will give you good pain meds. So don%26#039;t worry.
Reply:You%26#039;ll be asleep. When you wake up you%26#039;ll be doped up on drugs. You might get sick (vomit). You%26#039;ll feel better in a couple of days.
Reply:When mine were pulled, I was put completely under. They used a drill to break the teeth up and remove the pieces. It doesn%26#039;t really hurt but you will be uncomfortable for a few days. If you%26#039;d had braces, it%26#039;s kinda like that kind of pain. Healing takes a while but you are still functional. You%26#039;ll probably get a prescription for some really good pain medication!!

Don%26#039;t be scared, it%26#039;s very common. The surgeon will discuss everything in detail with you as each case is different and what one person experiences will not be the same as what another person experiences.
Reply:I had all 4 pulled at once. The ortho surgeon usually puts u to sleep and you dont feel a thing. You%26#039;re groggy when you wake up so someone will drive ya home. I took pain pills the day after surgery and thats it. It was uncomfortable to eat and my jaws were sore for a few days but it was not near as bad as people made it out to be. Just watch out for dry sockets. Care for your %26#039;wounds%26#039; just like they say or trouble could come down the road. Good luck!
Reply:They might put you under. You will need someone to drive you to and from the dental office. Doesn%26#039;t really hurt because you%26#039;re doped up and speaking jibberish. It%26#039;s a possibility they played with my butthole while I was asleep.

You should take 2-3 days off from any social appearances because your face will swell up all goofy-like, and it will be difficult to open your mouth to eat anything besides crackers for a day or two. Besides that, good luck!

Three days after you should be getting back to normal.
Reply:It sucks but it%26#039;s no a huge deal usually. They will give you pain meds here is a recipes I make for times like this. It will take about a week to get back to normal but you should be up and about in a day.

Make this ahead of time or have someone make it for you.

Reply:Wisdom Teeth are totally different than any other teeth in your mouth...they are deeply impacted or rooted at times the dentist needs to pull it (not all the way) then press it, (rocking it) putting pressure on it in all directions to loosen it, etc...then finally pull it out....this leaves allot of pressure type pain, when removed. (large holes that need to clot) or you get what they call %26quot;dry socket%26quot; lots of pain killers...you%26#039;ll be in LaLa
Reply:Okay I only had two, the top to, and mine had come through, I guess like yours. They will numb you up so it doesn%26#039;t hurt. Tell them to give you the shots really slow and it won%26#039;t hurt. They don%26#039;t really pull them out, they kinda pry them out. I felt some pressure but no pain. After they will fill the hole with cotton and you keep it there for a few hours, replacing it with wet cotton when needed. There is some blood. You shouldn%26#039;t use a straw or suck on anything for a while. They should give you a list or something with what you should and shouldn%26#039;t do. I think it took a few weeks to heal fully, but it happens fast. The bottom ones they will put you to sleep for. They cut them out, and if they are infected there will be a lot of pain. I would call and talk and see if you can go into the office once before and have them explain to you what they will do. Good luck!
Reply:I am sure you mean the oral surgeon. You can be given sedation (sleep) to have the procedure done. They will need to make an incision in the gums and remove a little bone to get the teeth out. They will put stitches in as well. The top ones need to come out because they will drift downwards and can be problematic. You will be given pain killers after the procedure. The first few days are the worst. The soft tissue will heal in about 2 weeks, and the bone fill takes about 4 months. After a week or so, it will feel normal.
Reply:I had all of mine pulled and I was scared too.It was a short procedure(about 45 min.)and they were all out.Once the novacain wore off it hurt a little. The gave me a percription for codene and I only took 1 or 2 and then I was fine.I really don%26#039;t know how they pulled them because I kept my eyes shut and I didn%26#039;t want to see any thing.

I hope this helps you a little bit.

GOOD LUCK.
Reply:As a rule, an oral surgeon removes wisdom teeth, especially when they%26#039;re impacted. More than likely you%26#039;ll be sedated and put to sleep before they start the procedure. When you wake up, you%26#039;ll be kinda groggy, but you shouldn%26#039;t be in much pain. To be on the safe side, ask you doctor for a prescription for a pain reliever before you leave. Make sure to follow aftercare instructions to avoid unnecessary pain and problems. Good luck
Reply:I had all four of my wisdom teeth surgically removed before they erouted or got impacted, because my dentist knew they would become a problem if I waited....

I don%26#039;t remember much, it was a while ago, but I think I was only out of commission for like a week... got a pretty hefty prescription for pain meds....had to eat soft food, no carbonated drinks, couldn%26#039;t suck on straws or Popsicles( it would cause dry sockets by removing the blood that filled in the holes where the teeth were) it takes a while for the bone to fill in the holes from the teeth or roots.... and if they have already come in I think they use a drill to cut the teeth out.. I don%26#039;t think they literally pull them out cause that would cause unnecessary trama to your mouth.... well have fun
Reply:Hey I just had 2 of my wisdom teeth out this summer. I%26#039;m 19.

I was so scared before I had mine out! But, it ended up being a lot better than I thought.

The anesthesiologist I had was actually really calming. I was shaking whenever I came in, but he helped a lot. He talked to me about music, and put me to sleep in a really peaceful manner. I don%26#039;t even remember any of the surgery. The weirdest part is coming out of the anesthesia, because your mouth is completely numb and you%26#039;re a little bit disoriented, but, not in a bad way. I was particularly smiley for some reason. haha. It honestly doesn%26#039;t hurt that bad, especially if you%26#039;re consistent w/taking your meds. It will feel more achy than anything else. Just make sure you follow your doctors instructions on when to use cold pressure, and when to use hot pressure. Oh, and don%26#039;t use straws for at least a week! They could pull out your stitches. Take at least 3 days off from everything, and just relax in bed. As far as the holes go, mine took about a month to completely heal up. But, it%26#039;s different for everyone.

But anyways, if your teeth aren%26#039;t through the surface, they%26#039;ll cut a hole to get to them. And, in that case, those tooth holes might take a little longer to heal. But, overall, you%26#039;ll feel pretty achy for a few days. I recommend taking ibuprofen along with whatever medicine they prescribe because it acts as an anti-inflammatory and you won%26#039;t feel as swollen. Biting on teabags helps too. It stops the bleeding. Just make sure you get plenty of rest, and try to avoid moving as much as you can. You%26#039;ll heal much faster! It%26#039;s really not as scary as it sounds! People bring you slushies and ice cream. =)

Good luck! You%26#039;ll be fine.
