Will getting my teeth pulled hurt?

Next Monday I am getting two back teeth pulled (molars) out. I will have local anesthesia (Novacaine). I am getting it doen at 11:30am. Should I be ok to go back to work the next day? Will I be in alot of pain?

The shot they give you the Novacaine with will hurt like heck.....then they will yank the teeth.....then the next day you will look like a chipmunk and your jaw will ache for days and days.....





Then it will go away and you will be all good to go!! :)

Reply:It is extremely painful. I had one 3 years ago. The Novacaine didn't help. It just swelled up my gums. EWW!
Reply:well wen i had mine pulled out they put som gel on my gum wich numbed the pain on top so it wont hurt that much
Reply:The dentist give you topical medication before giving u the shot. The type of anesthetic depends on the location of the teeth. The dentist is not supposed to pull your tooth until u r completely numb. He will check it by trying to pull it out, if u feel pain he is supposed to give u more anesthetic. When u get ur tooth pulled u aren't supposed to feel any pain at all only pressure from him pulling it out. After he pulls ur tooth do not spit, suck from a straw, or smoke for at least 24 hours. Change ur gauze so that there won't be any blood in ur mouth. This is b/c u can get a dry socket and it will hurt more than any toothache u will ever have. Depending on the extraction he can write u a prescription for pain just ask if u think that u will have any pain. It is not nearly as bad as it seems.

Reply:i had my wisdom teeth pulled out and they used novacane after the numbness goes away u will bein pain tey will give you some vicodn to help ease tha pain. try to eat omthing b4 you take it tho it will make you sick. after a few days of puffy cheeks and tenderness you will be good to go
Reply:No. There is no pain when extracting teeth with the use of Novocain. In fact you can have your dentist calm your nerves with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). As long as it is not your canines you will be fine. You may be a little sore afterwards but will be gone within a day or two. Good Luck!!
Reply:generally getting an extraction doesn't hurt because you will be numb in some cases especially if the tooth is infected will you still feel pain after getting numb. The most you should feel is pressure and pushing and you will be okay to go to work following the appointment.
