I'm getting teeth pulled out? Freaking out!?

I'm really scared about getting put to sleep, what does it feel like? I'm getting 4 teeth pulled out, bicuspids, the oral surgeon said it would take 15 minutes. I'm really scared. Any advice?

I was in the same situation, I need 3 or 4 teeth taken out for the braces.





But I don't actually remember being put to fully sleep, I was just drowsy, during the removal, I don't remember being any pain, it was kind of an awkward feeling.





After its over, you should feel numb and your mouth will be a little swollen, you might be sore for a few hours but the next day you should be fine.
Reply:Be thankful ur getting put to sleep. I had to take out 4 teeth pulled out WIDE AWAKE....all they did was put the novacaine shot in my mouth to numb the pain before they pulled it out. I didnt feel pain whatsoever, but the novacaine needle freaked the crud outta me! I had like a panic attack cuz im terrified of needles...especially that thing!





If you'll be put to sleep, u wont feel a thing. Also, u wont get to see the whole pulling of ur teeth nor anything else. You will wake up with a bit of a swollen mouth and thats about it. You wont be under sever pain. U might have discomfort, though.

Reply:You'll drift off, fall asleep, and before you know it, the dentist will be waking you up. Try to relax. It's not too bad.





My daughter also had to have teeth removed before braces.





You may be a little sore afterward though, but the dentist can prescribe pain medication as he or she sees fit
Reply:Dental has improved greatly and the long term results will be worth the discomfort. They will put IV in talk to you casually, maybe have you count back and thats all to it .AT home,, You will need mouthwash, if not a prescition one from dentist. and pain pills. Yoou should be given instrutions and someone should be with you to get you home and settled. Also prop up in bed to avoid the salavia choking you as you may not swallow much at first. IT will be fine. You will need to take it easy 2-3 days. *mamatx
