Often this is a result of the injection--it would require a really messy extraction to damage the lingual nerve (though I'm sure it's happened). Usually with lower molar extractions you're more concerned with the nerve serving the teeth and the lower lip.

The vast majority of the time, the kind of nerve damage you report heals by itself in from a few days to a few weeks. Occasionally it takes longer, and RARELY it is permanent.

Give it some time.

Reply:I had teeth pulled and it hurt for a long time but my tounge wasnt numb that long. try calling the place and asking the dr. that pulled um
Reply:They probably injected the numbing agent near or right on your nerve. You should call your dentist and find out.

Cheers
Reply:Not to scare you but when I got my wisdom teeth pulled having extending amounts of numbness could be permanent. I would call up the place where you went and ask. It is probably nothing but it doesn't hurt to be sure.
Reply:it depends on how much med:s he/she gave you ,if still numb tomorrow go to the dr: good luck...................
